Would you?
Jump start a total strangers car? I was asked to today by a couple of kids in a beater Honda Accord at a gas station. I politely told them I was in a hurry and was sorry but couldnt. Does jump starting a dead battery harm our batteries? I would think probably not.

Yes, I did it for a couple in a Honda Civic. At first I said I was in a rush, but decided that I would hope someone would take the time to do the same for me. *Treat others as you would like to be treated*

As long as I'm the only person touching the cables, no problem.

Probably not, but only because I don't know how to do it properly and i wouldn't trust a stranger to either.

Did it once and won't again. Years ago this guy in a camero needed a jump. Hooked up the cables and got his car going but he didn't put it in park and his car rolled into mine. No damage as it was moving very slowly but t hat scared me enough to not do it any more.

BMWs don't like to be used for jump starting? Sometimes these posts make me laugh. Learn some common sense and get a grip people. If someone needed help, I would certainly do so.

There are instructions in the manual for using your BMW to provide or receive jump starting assistance. It's easier in these cars than most as there's dedicated positive and negative terminals/posts to attach cables to in the engine compartment so you don't have to mess with clamping on battery terminals and body parts. |
