I didn't see smart phone integration on your options list. I ordered it but wondering how it's any different to the previous idrive.

I'd estimate that it will cost a couple thousand dollars for this retrofit.

Congrats Big Windy! Enjoy your car.....

That doesn't sound too bad, but I fear it could be much worse .... still need to overcome the coding issue. Thats my biggest concern with a retrofit.

Do you know if BMW has ever released an engine upgrade during their M3 model run(s)? I'm not talking about a CSL release, but stock only.

I thought their engines pretty much stayed the same the entire time of their cycle.

I keep hearing that several aftermarket ECU upgrades easily get you an extra 10 to 15 increase in both hp and torque. You would think BMW would at least do that - or offer it under their performance parts line. That along with the multi-piston brake calipers that are stock on the 135i sport!.

Nice car Big Windy. Since no one has mentioned it (I don't think) do you notice a big difference with the window switches moved backward? I think that happend on both the sedan and the coupe, right? Or was it just the sedan? Either way I guess you'd need to compare to a 2008 to give a good opinion on this.

E36 M3 did. Although in the US the power stayed the same before and after the engine upgrade (and was significantly less than the car made in Europe in both cases).

Congrats! Enjoy it!

One thing makes me confused, how can the odometer be at 0?
Doesn't all new fabricated cars go thru a testtrack at the factory before delivery?
I haven't seen a single new car with at least a copule of km on the odo.

Windy's car never had to drive anywhere. At the factory, it got put on the truck, taken to the dealer, and that's when he picked it up.

Our cars get driven on to the ship at Bremerhaven, off the ship at the port of entry to the VDC, etc.

i was surprised myself. i think that it probably has .8 miles on it or something and they just reset the trip meter to zero so that it would be all zeros. i know that they had to power it up to drive it to where it was at the dealership. i think pure zero is impossible.

Big Windy,

Is the dealer holding onto the car because there's no purchase order for it with the 09 prices? According to my CA at Pentagon Car Sales, BMW won't let any military orders go through without the final prices.

I'm curious as to the seat bottom cushion, would you happen to have any pics by chance?

Thank you.

Nothing, that is the difference. Same functionality but looks sexier!!!

Not worth trading an ’08 for an ’09 for, but nice all the same......
