Well, you can either use install some small front fogs, or (jinxter's idea) use the switch for the lidar jammer or something similar.

Looks like there are four possibilities, but the descriptions are less than helpful. Anyone bold enough to order the other three and report back?

Jinxter showed the -792 one with thumb wheel in post #12.

GregW, thanks for the detailed instructions and pics. I have a few questions:
1. Where did you buy the LCM?
2. Did the M3's software need to be reflashed by the dealer, or do the rear fogs work as soon as you hook up the switch?
3. Does the rear fog light illuminate on the dash, as shown in the picture below?
4. Do the headlights need to be on in order for the rear fogs to illuminate?

Thanks!

you had to let me secret out!!! lol. No its ok.
Yes this is what I am using to power on and off my LI (when I actually get it, group buy takin forever!)

But! It's not as easy as it sounds. Because I didnt want to screw with the circut board that the original button activated (didnt want to fry my computer aka kill warantee) I had to customize it.

I installed a micro momentary switch behind the button and attached it to a relay that will activate the LI system.

It took me a while to figure this one out as a momentary switch on its own will only turn on the system while holding the button.

And teh best part was I had a dummy switch to play with after ordering the rear fog switch.

My original reason for even getting this switch was for the LI, the rear fogs just came in as a bonus.

you can order the one that I used. and use your stock switch button in place of it. These buttons are removable. But with teh blank button you will need to cut the tabs that hold it stiff and then glue it in place of teh new switch to make it none pushable again. Or you have leave it pushable but it will be blank and do nothing.

You can infact modify your stock switch to turn on the rear fogs as well all you need to do is remove the tabs hodling teh lower button in place and add a staff like peice on the inner part to push down the actualy contacts (not sure I explained that well)

It's teh cheap way to do it costs nothing! but you dont get the pretty lights on the button.

BTW stock switch also has teh LEDs on the baord just cant see through the button

I dont think they wanted it to be a mandatory option for teh US as tehy thought it would be abused. The rear fogs are VERY bright and should not be used unless needed.

okay good info. makes sense. the germans are really strict about the use of fog lights. not like the typical american that puts the fogs on anytime it is raining or something. thanks again.

Hell, most Americans drive around with their foglights on even when it's not raining.

True, true... I'm getting close to pulling the trigger, especially since I haven't heard back from Circle. What I'd give for unfettered access to ETK! Thanks.

Sounds like modding the stock switch would be much more of a bargain. Especially since these will only be on for a short amount of time when you have someone on your ass.

I'll save $90, but thanks for doing this on the M.

I placed my order on Friday and received two switches today, one for me and one for skierman64. Unfortunately, skierman will be out of town for a few weeks, so we won't be able to do our rear fog light install until he gets back.

I plan on using the rear fog when in heavy rain (the type that makes some folks turn on their hazards) and when some dude is tailgating me, or high beaming me from behind.

Can't wait to make my first mod to my car...woo hoo.
