Received BMW M Watch for Christmas

For Christmas my wife and daughters got me a BMW M Watch. I wanted to share with you my likes and dislikes in the event you are thinking of getting one.

The watch itself looks great and I am so happy that I got it. BMW has one major flaw on this watch and I have already emailed and called BMWUSA to give them my opinion on this design. I already received a reply basically saying we appreciate your comments and that they are important for future designs.

The major design flaw is that they have the 6, 9, 12 and various 5 minute markers that will glow in the dark however the second, minute and hour hands DO NOT glow in the dark. In the evening this watch is just a decorative piece as you cannot tell time. It is very silly that you can see the numbers and not the hands so it makes telling the time in the dark impossible.

I looked at all the other designs from BMW and from what I can tell the hands glow as well as the numbers.

Again the watch looks great but BMW should be embarrassed with a flaw this big.

Let us know what mods you are planning! I think VF is coming out supercharged second hand which when matted with the Akra minute hand will give you 27 hours in a day.

I've contemplated getting this watch many times. It is a nice looking piece. It's good to know that the glow in the dark pieces don't really work well.

It is not that they don't work well. The hands do not have any glow in the dark material on them.

Truth be told is that I have not mentioned this to the wife. As I said I really like the watch and am wearing it right now. I was sharing my opinion on the design to this watch so others that may be interested can make the descision if this is the watch for them.

I would have rather none of the watch glow in the dark then everything but the most important part of the watch.

Keep the comments coming .

The thought she put into getting you a classy M timepiece is priceless. That alone is worth the watch. There are other cheesy BMW / M Timepieces she could of bought, but she picked a nice one. Good for you!

Really nice looking watch but agree that the lack of glow-in-the-dark hands is inexcusable.

Bet if they'd made 5 prototypes and worn them for a week, this never would have made it to production. People in my department at work get flak for occasionally driving test vehicles home at night, but the truth is if you don't try it, you don't find issues. Could have saved themselves a (partially) dissatisfied customer.

Not to sound fashion over function, but watches are much more the former these days. At any given time I bet you're sitting behind a computer with a clock on it, or within reach of your mobile phone with a clock on it. Sport the watch to look cool- you already know what time it is.

Thanks Man! That is a huge flaw. At least it's useful in the daytime.
