Nasty hail storm

I worry about this when we travel. This happened at our local airport. The car in the pic is a BMW, I think (rear shade). What if the owner is gone for two weeks? The car is already soaked inside as it is. What a mess. The B-17 that was visiting this airport got damaged as well. Nastiness.

I can see it just fine.

Shitty situation for real, if I came back and my window was blasted out like that, I'd probably cry for a while.

+1 Looks like the article was redacted!

However, I agree with the OP. We get some pretty nasty hailstorms in the Colorado area in the springtime. I travel every couple of months and park in the garage at the airport to keep my car protected.

That weird redaction looking thing happened to someone here, too. Not sure what that was about.

But yeah, scary stuff. We're going away for a week soon and we'll be taking Wifey's 8 year old Civic to the airport.

We had a hail storm like that here in March 2013. It sounded like hell itself... None of the cars were outside thankfully and I only lost one window on the house.

People were still waiting to get estimates up to 6 months ago.

Oh no! What should you do if your car is outside in this situation and you have no garage or covered parking area?
I'll be bringing my e90 335i up to Boulder, CO in August and I'm worried about the hail as it hailed multiple times towards the end of April and now this!

Will a car cover protect against those baseball sized chunks of hail?

That ain't hail... That is FROZEN STONES!

Those would kill you or cause serious bodily harm if you got hit.

I'm surprised that it didn't kill anyone directly. A few people died from fallen trees and whatnot though.

Zach1328- I don't think a car cover will do much against that kind of hail. They do make these big covers specifically for hail that you put over the car and then inflate so it all bounces off. Looks kinda funny though.

One such storm happened in Munich when I was there in the 80's. Half the city's police cars were damaged or destroyed. I remember seeing a white VW Golf from Munich a couple of days later and thought it was the only car that looked right with all the dents. Slap a Titleist label on it and you're set.

That is one of the biggest hail ever!
Golf size hail hurts. I got hit by one. It will make a dent on aluminium hoods.
We receive hail storm every may-june. Every year.....

That rear shade at least helped a bit, right?

Kept the glass off the seat. But the seat is now soaked. After the hail it rained like you read about in the Bible. And every flat surface on the car is now full of dents. Hood, roof, trunk, all trashed. Windshield is probably hurting as well. The owner would be better off if they total it.
