Driving School that allows e93?
Does anyone know of a performance driving school that allows the e93? Seems like everyone I find does not allow verts even if hardtop.

From what I've seen looking at different events its all up to the rules for the venue that you are planning on running. Since your in NJ I'm going to guess you'd like to hit up NJMP, here are their rules from their website on convertibles...

I am willing to go to NJ; PA; CT; NY ... basically any place within 100 miles or so. Seems hard to find a place that allows verts ... even hardtop

Last weekend I drove my E93 to an Evolution performance school event ( http://evoschool.com/).
They have other events in PA and NJ. The Phase One I took is autocross, and I liked it a lot. |

Our local Porsche club does too. Check with your local club. They're usually open to non Porsche cars.

I would try NASA and SCDA events in the area at sites other than at NJMP (which has tighter rules). The local BMW CCA events also have tighter rules than NASA/SCDA at locations like Lime Rock, Pocono, or Watkins Glen ( all which I have run my hard top convertible at ( SLK55)).

Chin Notorsports allows convertibles...but I believe VIR itself restricts stock convertibles. I've been doing a lot of Chin events and they're a class act.

It is difficult to make a blanket statement that may apply to any particular HPDE. Clubs and track venues all have a particular position on converts. I suggest you go to Mortorsportreg.com, peruse the track schedules to find an event near you, then approach the event contact by email and inquire if your car will be allowed. You will then have a definited answer. Good luck.

Some venues outright prohibit verts without a well-installed aftermarket roll bar - regardless of club. VIR is one.
Most BMWCCA chapters do not permit verts in any configuration. PCA chapters seem to be more open to verts. |

This is all changing with BMWCCA. They're now instituting the broom stick rule from roll bar to strut tower. Each chapter varies, but it's permitted in the DEC now.

Nothing has changed recently in the CCA regarding Verts. The broomstick rule changed a number of years ago from the top of the windshield to the top of the front strut tower. CCA chapters are free to accept Verts if they meet the minimum standards as outlined in the ops manual.
