Gas pedal "kickdown" metal plate dropped off. How to put it back?

Hello all.

There's a metal plate behind gas pedal that just dropped off. Judging from what I can see, it looks like the plate that'll press down on a small button at base when gas pedal is pressed all the way down. Think that's the one that causes a click which activate kickdown on DCT when gas pedal is pressed all the way down.

Does anyone know how to put this metal plate onto the back of gas pedal? Or photo / video showing how it's done? Did a search and also youtube but couldn't't find any instruction on how to put it back.

Attached is a photo is plate that dropped off. Correct me if it's not device that activates kickdown on DCT.

Appreciate some assistance. Thank you.

Replace the pedal assembly. It's not supposed to come off. The plate just gives you the click feeling, it has nothing to do with the kick down feature. That is all done by the signal from the pedal travel sensors.

Thanks for the info on what that plate does.

BTW, I managed to replaced the plate.
  • Need to remove or at least loosen accelerator/gas pedal by removing plastic tab at the bottom using a flathead screwdriver or pen knift. Use a allen key to unscrew the bolt holding down pedal. Then slowly push pedal upwards
  • There are wires hooked to pedal on right side. It was a pain to unhook the wires from pedal so I just turned pedal to the side and let it rest on the floor, thus exposing bottom of pedal
  • There are 2 plastic tabs behind pedal, one at top and one at the bottom. First slide the plate into the tab at the bottom and make sure it's properly in
  • Then take a screwdriver to use as a leverage by placing screw driver in the middle with plate on top and pedal at the bottom. Then push down the top part of the plate - with screwdriver already there as leverage, the plate will form kind of a cancave shape which allows the top part of the plate to slide into the top tab
  • Then slowly pull the screwdriver out and plate will pop into place

Everything's back in place. Pain in the ass to fix but quite easy once you figure out how to do so.
