The 911 is WAY more common than a Corvette!!! Especially the new Stingray... besides, they aren't even available yet. The ones you are seeing at demo cars

If you want an "exclusive" then neither the M3, 911 or Corvette will meet your criteria... but especially the 911... where I live they are everywhere.

In my area, we have a huge population of GM employees. Corvettes are more sought out than there german counter parts. i see so many mustangs, camaros and vettes.

You see 911s, but you don't see them every time i drive. specially new ones.

I have seen more demo c7s than E92 m3s this month, in fact i don't remember last time i saw a M3. and i love it !

75k? , you do know you can buy a 2010 ZR1, for like 78k - with approximately 5 to 8k miles!!... The ZR1 will rip this cars face off due to it 638 HP and 604 lb/ft torque.

This is a base model, this is bottom of the line...like a 328i lol.....ZR1 is like a M3 ...top of the line for the Corvette.

If it's all about power and ripping faces off why did you buy an M3? Oh, yeah... it's not all about power

Because your right, that is not all that matters. However, between the two models there are not any exceptional advantages between the two, except which one is faster. I will say that if I had a choice between two M3s of the same price - I am taking the face ripper every time over the other....

I have to disagree on the highlighted piece above... there is a significant difference between the C7 Z51 and the C6 ZR1 if you ignore power. If you don't think so, then you likely need to do some research on the new car . Technology, interior, etc... all very much improved... styling too but that is subjective. The advantage the ZR1 has is power and speed. So, I would suggest that there are exceptional advantages inherent in the C7. I'm not saying it is a "better" car than the ZR1 (because it isn't) but if you ignore the power advantage the ZR1 has, the C7 is a real upgrade otherwise IMO. It isn't simply comparing the M3 to a more powerful M3 as you suggest. It is like comparing the 997 GT3 to the 991 911S ... or something like that but you get my drift. Maybe it's like comparing an E46 M3 with a super charger vs a new E92 M3... yeah, that's a good comparison The SC E46 M3 might be faster and more powerful but not necessarily the better car vs. a new E92 M3.

My point is you have the choice to buy a 4 year old ZR1, no warranty, with 10 year old technology and a very dated interior OR buy a less powerful C7 that looks better inside and out (IMO), modern technology, looks new, performs better than most anything else on a track with the exception of a select number of cars, pay $65k very well equiped and have a full warranty. I would only pick the 2010 ZR1 if pure power and speed were all that mattered to me. Having said that, if the power matters, wait for the Z06 C7 which is rumoured to have 600+ HP but with all of the other advantages the C7 has brought to the table over the C6. Better yet, wait a few more years and buy a used C7 Z06.

Agreed, point taken, everyone is different.
I tend to always be looking for speed as the number one buying criteria.
I do come from the Corvette world, I owned a 2008 Corvette before the M3 that I bought in April of this year. Modified it my Corvette to 700 hp it was a base model... Still was not a ZR1! in the Corvette world the ZR1 is iconic and a legend...its the one and only top dog to own. So maybe I am tainted by my time in that world....The base model is always looked down upon. Maybe this wont be the case this time around.

Front reminds of a 458 with the headlights.

The red interior looks cheesy, but the upgraded seats in saddle brown look pretty nice. Cool car!

So how many DCT M3 owners will go for the C7 automatic or will you folks go "down" to an MT?

Second only to the fact that I am not sure I could really live without the backseat, the lack of DCT is a huge minus against the C7.

Chevy is allegedly gonna make a base model Corvette with a 5.3 liter engine with around 400 hp. I think it's a TERRIBLE idea but some fools will buy it. Not many I'm guessing. So the Stingray will not be base model long according to rumor. I do see your point however.

Vette-lite? Agree, cheapens the line.

That is true. Although you have to think of how many people own an automatic Corvette as anything more than a weekend cruising car or as an attraction getting daily driver? Can't recall seeing many of them at the track days I've watched or participated in. I'd wager most Corvette track lovers get the manual to start.

Absolutely - it's a fantastic car. I'm just saying that, for me, I am absolutely addicted to the DCT now, so going back to a manual would not be an option. And the slushbox would likely not give the same rapid-fire experience. Still, I would not dismiss outright; I'd at least give it a test drive.

Quite possible. I think demand will eventually force manufactures of most performance cars, especially those costing over 50K, to move to a DCT. As time goes on it would appear that more and more people are willing to give up clutch control for better performance, and the DCT is sort of the pinnacle of performance when it comes to transmissions. Americans, particularly buyers of long-running nameplates like Corvette, Mustang, Camaro with a lot of heritage, are perhaps less willing to dispense with the manual transmission tradition. But it will happen eventually.
