today is day 15 for me, I also did the resolution deal for the new year.

I am 41 and have smoked since I was 15. I tried to quit a few times before, once I made it 3 weeks, and the other only a few days. I have the support of my wife, who also is trying to quit. She actually quit for 2 years after her stroke at the age of 40, but she started back up a year ago.

I still have the cravings though, I won't lie about that. You know what pisses me off the most is when people say " Man, you have gone 15 days without them, you have it whipped, you shouldn't even want one now" BULLSHIT, everyones system is different, I take it day by day. My stressful job doesn't make it easy, but I am doing it, and am proud as hell !!!!

so neways, gl with your goal...quitting that shit is much harder than I could have ever imagined.
thats the hardest part; not smoking while drinking. i can barely deal not smoking when im sober, but during a nice buzz or night of drinking, cigarettes are almost a must have.

There is no way I would have been able to quit in college. Possible yes but not probable. The main issue is that you have too much free time. Your best bet would be to quit with friends. It helps a lot.

Congrats..the first three weeks are the toughest (after you are totally OFF nico). I quit a few times. Fell off the wagon recently, but plan to jump back on. It's tough...but you can do it. Just don't let your brain convince ya that you can just have one or two here and there! lol. damn brain.

Cold turkey is not for me. I thought I was going to kill someone. I was on day two. I went to the bank drive up ATM and it said my account was 25K NEGATIVE. It was just a glitch but I went postal and it was pretty scary after I thought about it. Did the Chantix...worked. I did not take all of them, thinking I had it whipped. Started back. Bought some patches and put one on the other day. After about 5 minutes , maybe imagination, I started tasting something really rank and got dizzy.

I HAVE GOT TO QUIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good for all you who did. Especially the cold turkey route.

I quit for 3 years and I still have cravings sometimes. Especially when I'm out in a club/bar, playing cards with the guys, or when I'm at Vegas.

You are doing great. Keep taking it day by day.

Sounds a bit weird but I heard it helps people who are on their way to giving them up for good. Once you make it past that brutal first week or so, wear one of those wide rubber bands on your wrist. Every time your brain signals the desire for nicotine you snap the band on your wrist.

Sounds like some kind of dog training but I heard it helps.

Last night was hard as hell, it was the first time at a bar drinking since I quit.

I only drank a few, was there for 3 hours. I only go out for a drink once in awhile. I was a heavy drinker in my early years, thank goodness.

I made it through the night though, the first 2 hours were tough, but after the bar got more packed and more smoked up, I actually couldn't wait to get a breath of fresh air. My damn clothes smelled like shit, I know have to wash my coat.
