where did you get your custom LED rings? I really want to install a set of angel eyes like these, but lux and AIB dont have that same effect. I live in Vancouver and I dont know where I can get them there nor do I know where I can bring them to, to get them installed.

We should get a group buy/install for these kits.

I honestly like the LS3 set-up more than orion's....also not a fan of various CS reviews for umnitza... and bavarianx already offers an install service for the LS3 kit (there are located in brea IIRC), I know the orion v2 kit is cheaper than th LS3 kit, I'm sure they could do an orion install as well...

Clearly. Spoken in brutish, laymans terms, you're taking a completely sealed headlight, ripping it open, tearing out the existing rings, and then clobbering everything all back together. As an extreme example, if you tore your engine's head apart and modified it, then later on your motor blew, you wouldn't expect BMW to honor warranty on that, would you?

they are almost identical, but the LS3 v2's outter ring actually goes all the way around IIRC, and the LED count between orion and ls3 is different, but in the end it comes down to personal preference...

If you want to get into technicality, then yes, it does void your warranty for headlights. The point is whether the dealership knowsor cares if you modified something or not. Most (not all) dealers (here in SoCal as an example) won't make a big deal about it until there is a component failure, and you come back wanting free repairs done due to failures caused by a non-BMW approved part.
If you have a failure caused by AiB or Alpine, you have a much higher chance of getting away with it using warranty than if you have component failure caused by OSS. If your OSS fails, and it's damage outside of what OSS covers, you're pretty screwed. And if something happens and you had GP Thunders....well....I doubt that would ever happen, since they are a simple bulb replacement. Benefit of GP Thunder, AiB or Alpine kit would be reversibility (and with it, improved though still likely imperfect ability to hide the fact that anything was ever modified). |

I have to admit the LS3s and Orions look GREAT. I haven't seen AiB's in person, they would be my first choice. I'm currently running GP Thunders and they're ok - nothing special. I hear a lot of people have been complaining to EAS because of back-orders and orders placed that haven't shipped - if they're selling out - that must be a good thing. The Angel Eyes saga continues...

What are you running at the moment? I'll get some more info on Bavarianx, they claim "fully-reversible" on the site, if something were to happen I guess I'd take them out to avoid voiding the warranty. I like the Orions - they look great. Not sure the difference between those and LS3, why they are better, etc.

As an example, people on good terms with their SA and/or tech at a dealership can come in with full exhaust, angel eyes, suspension, wheels, air filter, and a slew of cosmetic modifications, and they couldn't give a care in the world. On the other hand, my former friend Steve once took his 335i in for an oil change, and his car was completely stock with the sole exception of VMR CSL-style wheels. His SA tried to void his suspension warranty. So, again, warranty really depends on your dealership and your SA. My best recommendation to you, if you are truly worried, would be to call in and ask if they would make a big deal about it if you just had the part. If for some reason you run into component failure later on, you just remove your aftermarket part, put in your stock components, then go from there. Of course, as a disclaimer, I would never condone breaking your car and then having your dealership pay for it, but as far as general observation goes. |

AiBs offer the fade in/out feature as well.
