Rim gurus out there!!! Assistance required...

Gents,

I've been wracking my brains & pulling as much info from the forums & online as I can but just want to make sure my logic is correct or not??

I've ordered some rims from the US & was going to fit stock tyres - easy. The front are same as the 220's (19/8.5 OS 29) & I specced the rears as per the ZCP - 19/10 OS 25. Limited in this regard by manufacturer.

Now I'm thinking I should get wider on the rear as they are 10" width but I'm aware I need to try & keep the same width offset front to rear & was therefore considering the following; 255/35/19's front & 275/35/19's on the rear?

I've been looking on willtheyfit.com & the above look to be within tolerance & will be OK - 3.55 mm higher tyre wall & 1.06% variance on diameter/speedo.

Is my logic correct & does anybody have any other comments or feedback?

I am bit confused. Are you running ZCPs or 220s. On ZCPs the 255/275 combo will work fine even with stock offset of 31F/25R. Many (including me) choose to use spacers for a meaner stance.

So to answer your question yes 255-35-19/275-35-19 will work just fine with stock offsets of the ZCPs.

I've ordered new rims.
The front has the dim's & offset of the 220's.
The rear has the same dim's as the ZCP rear.
The front are 8.5 vs 9.0 on ZCP - can I get away with 255?
The rears should be OK to run 275's.
I'm caught a bit in the middle:
Can I run the wider on the front & 275's on the rear OR stock (as in 220's) 245's on the front with slimmer than stock on the ZCP spec'd rear i.e 265 not 275's.

At least I can run the 255/275 without issues. I'm pretty sure the 255 are OK on the 8.5 front rims... Now do I buy local or Tirerack

255 on 8.5, might look a little pinched.

275 on 10 will look a bit more squared than fronts.

Of course this depends on tire choice. But aside from the side walls F n R looking slightly diff, this setup will fit fine.

It's already too late since your order is placed unless you can change it and I'm not sure if there was a 9" option, but I think that would have been a better option.

Also running stock sizes front and rear will mean the rear will have a slight stretched look like stock ZCPs. And fronts will be more squared. Like stock 220s.

I am running 255 (f) and 275 (r) at 35 on ZCP. The rears don't look stretched at all if not more squared. You should be fine at the front because there are members who are running 255s on stock 220. Hope that helps.

Your decision will largely depend on the type of tyres you want to purchase. Michelin are very expensive here. I got Contis 255/35/19 and 275/35/19 shipped for $1300 from TireRack. Because all four wheels came to under $1000 they didn't attract GST or import duty. Ben is a good gou to deal with at TR. Good luck!

It was either 8.5 or 10" fronts & for some reason (I think to stay close to OEM) I went 8.5 with the closest to the rear being 10"...

I've got a quote of $1.8k for some KUMHO's locally & I'm also in the process of getting some quotes from Tirerack for Conti's or Pirelli...

I'm not a fan of kumho's myself, you've got a 100k plus car buy the best to experience the best the car has to offer. I always buy Michelin Super Sports for that reason.

Leaning towards P'Zero's or S001's tbh.
RAMP are also getting some prices on a set of NITTO's for me too.
Importing from Tirerack is also an option.
Not ruling anything out just want to get the sizes right

Good move, after running Mich PS2 and Conti 5ps Iv'e gone back to Mich using the Pilot super sports and they are by far the best to date definitively the stickiest TR is a good vendor too, very helpful.

Tyres are a pretty subjective topic, so you're not really going to know how you like what you've bought until they're on your car.

I have had Pirelli, Kumho and Michelin on my M3. So far, I've liked the Michelins best, and the Pirellis least.

I'd also add that wheel balance and alignment is very important on this car, and should be done periodically. Being RWD and high(ish) power and torque has its consequences.
