Drivers seat repair approx cost

I have a 2008 e92 with fox red leather full heated seat and power. I have the usually drivers side of the seat leather wear with stitching coming undone. The seat aside from the left part of the vertical support is in excellent condition. I am in New Hampshire. So far every shop I have gone to state they won’t just fix the seat they want to redo entire seat. I have seen people in other parts of country have received repair only. I am not against them redoing the entire seat but the condition it is in seems to me like they may may be trying to take advantage of my lack of interior knowledge. Out of the 5 shops I visited all 5 had a different reason why the had to redo the entire seat. If I did find a shop what would expect to pay? I am receiving quotes well above 1k to do this job for a entire seat reupholstered and it just seems wrong. I could buy a seat less then that but like I say aside from 4 inches on the left vertical support the seat has 0 wear. Not even a wrinkle.

For that price you mind as well order a brand new top leather cover from bmw and put it on with some hog rings.

Last time I checked years ago they were in the 600$ range.

If I could I would. That section is list price of 732.98 here. I found it a bit less online but it’s something I can’t do and the shops won’t install it if I buy it. I still think they can just restich and replace the section needed with there material. There are you tube videos of shops doing this repair but all on west coast.

Then you need to find a shop that will fill in the cracks and redye and it's possible it won't match. Mind sharing a picture of the damage and how many miles on the car? To be honest anyone that works on cars should be able to complete this seat cover swap and doesn't have to be necessarily a upholstery shop.

There should be a shop willing to be the middleman. You likely have to pay more. I had mine put on by the car dealer who I bought it from, but that is a longer story.

I would order a new one if they are still available. Get hog rings and pliers on eBay for like 20$ and pay someone local to do it. It's no brain surgery trust me. Worst part is getting the seat out the car.
