New m3 weight
The new M3 weight is 1570Kg which is around 3461lbs. That is around 70lbs lighter than the E92 335.
also... just fyi... fitting the 335 with some CSL wheels will drop the weight by 50+ lbs. |

3500-3600
Considering the development is not complete yet, I find it dubious that this is the weight.
If the M3 comes in at 3500-3600 pounds, it is going to be awesome...... Weight Adders vs 335i

That artical from the Autocar mag consists of info from BMW,not thier own road test ! That said, they are Britain's top mag & wouldn't put it in print if they thought it wasn't correct.

It goes on to say, "Although this new M3 will be the biggest and heaviest yet, the M Division have gone to typically enormous lengths to keep the weight penalty low, and to improve upon its already razor-sharp dynamic responses. The car will have front and rear tracks wider than the already-widened standard E90 3-series, reinforced plastic body panels where there might otherwise be steel, a carbon fibre roof just like its bigger M6 sibling, and a chassis packed with lightweight aluminium components that keep masses, both sprung and unsprung, down to an absolute minimum." |

Dude - terrible post
Can you (or your friend) actually read???
This was not a test. It was a bunch of speculation, no better than anything else we have heard yet. On top of that, which does take a wee bit of savy to see, there is the basic facts. This is NOT the weight, this is a lower limit on the weight. What part of "slightly more" don't you understand? BTW all the rest of their specs sound WAY conservative to me. Please end this terrible thread. |

?????
What??? 80 kg is over 175 lb. This is not insignificant at all. It amounts to a few tenths in the lb/hp ratio. It sure is worth a lot more than the 10-15 lb saved by a carbon fiber roof...
