Where do you put your stuff?

I have booked my first track day (well 3 days actually)

And I know it's recommended that I bring a torque wrench, various tools, (probably) a floor jack, etc.

Where does everyone keep their stuff when they are out on the track? Or is it just the honor system?

Thanks.

I am sure that there will be varying opinions, but my experience is that any where at the track is safe. When I attend two day events, I usually leave most of my stuff in an open paddock overnight. I did get a jack stolen but I think it was an oversight as I lent it to someone and I think he forgot who lent it to him.

It's just the honor system. No one steals stuff (knock knock). If you want to feel safer about it, buy a small pop up tent from Amazon and keep stuff in there and close up before heading to the track. The tent will also keep your stuff safe from the elements of sun heat, rain, etc. as well, very handy.

I leave stuff at the track overnight. Never had an issue other than the wind blowing some stuff around.

^ Agreed, I use a tarp as well and I have never had anyone ever mess with my stuff (and I bring alot).

However it helps now to have three friends with enclosed trailers - we all park together and I store my stuff with them.

Items on my checklist:
Hydraulic Jack
Torque wrench
Impact wrench
Track tires
Tire Pressure gauge
Sockets / tools
Halon Fire Extinguisher
Tow hooks (2)
Rags
Tire chalk
Work gloves
Extra engine and SC oil
Coolant
Brake fluid
paper towels
tarp
Rainex
Folding chair
Gatorade
Snacks

I agree with what everyone else has said, no one will bother your stuff. I leave all of my stuff on a tarp in the paddock area. I also have a big plastic bin where I keep the smaller stuff like tools and fluids.

If anyone ever gets something stolen at a track it would be a huge blow to the close knit group of track enthusiast.

I use tarps and plastic bins to keep most of my stuff. I usually leave my keys in the ignition with the windows down while the car is parked. Wallet's usually in some bag somewhere for the day.

It's a real good feeling of humanity at the track when you can trust strangers like this.

You need to have a tarp to keep your stuff dry in case of rain. No-one messes with anyone else's stuff - and trust me when I tell you that other people have MUCH more interesting stuff than you are likely to bring.

Just cover it with a small tarp and don't worry.

As with everyone else, I feel very, very at ease leaving my stuff out at the track. If anything, I leave my wallet and phone in the glovebox while on track, but that's only on weekends there are a lot of spectators out hanging out (events like ITR expo and West Michigan Honda Meet, Global Time Attack, etc).

Personally, this is whatvI carry:
- all the necessary tools to switch back to stock pads in case of emergency
- track wheels
- floor jack
- top off fluids (brake, oil)
- window cleaner, rags, paper towels
- tire pressure gauge
- snacks, drinks as its important to stay hydrated
I bring a tarp and fold it in half: I store everything on one half of the tarp and cover it with the second half, securing it against the wind with the jack handle or some other heavy object.

I've left everything including wheels overnight, it's such a relief to be able to do that...

When and where are you going?

Adc I take all those things as well as grease pencil for marking tires, pyrometer, gopro camera bag, aim solo, foot towel, workbook for notes, chair, umbrella, and 7mm t handle for my studs with some loctite. I have a list on the wall of the garage that keeps getting longer every time I go.

Completely agree. Also, being the minimalist that I am, only bring torque wrench, tire pressure gauge, and some windex and paper towels. With close to 60 events, just goes to show how well the M engineers designed this thing. Only hiccup I've ever had was a puncture, that was plugged by one of the race shops on track (Autobahn CC) for free. Water and food are good, but being a human, you probably already know that
