Are the M cars the only ones that get LSD?

I've heard some e30 came with it, but to my knowledge the M cars are the only ones equipped with a LSD, anyone know more about this, I'm having this discussion with some friends, some even say it's optional, which I know it isn't.

Yes.

Although some guys with normal 3-series cars have bought the LSD aftermarket.

There are aftermarket LSDs available, but BMW will not provide one.

Speaking from personal experience, The Quaife LSD is a great mod to the 135, and probably the 3 Series as well.

Have Fun,
Rick

True. Twas nice for the E30 crowd, easy to find a replacement LSD and put it in.

It's all about target markets. Most people who drive a 335/135/535 probably don't even know what an LSD is or what it does and would never even notice a difference if it was on the car. Plus it puts a little more distance between the M cars and all other BMW models.

All non-M BMWs have come with open differentials since 1995 with the advent of ASC. BMW replaced their mechanical differential with electronic units. An "equal trade" in their eyes.

Damn I wish I had an LSD, would be so much fun at winter!

Maybe we'll get the electronic ones in all cars soon? And they'll be better than in the 135i

I have read that it should have LSD, but i´m not totally sure its trure? I´m about to test that some day...

And here in Sweden/EU the E36 328i-323i and the E46 330i-328i you could order with LSD as an extra option i remember..

But it is very rare that you find one with LSD on the "used market"...

it's got an e-diff which really does not work like a lsd at all, mine will still "one wheel wonder" on a really tight low speed turn

it's also only active with all nanny's disabled
