Oh wow... so there are three different AMPs then?

I just took the bottom portion off, and it says the same thing as his except it says "TOP-HIFI M F07 Verst"

So I guess they made an additional change? Looks like the plugs based on his pictures are similar, whereas the Enhanced Premium AMP in my 2008 looks completely different visually and where the connectors are too.

Thanks for chiming in on the thread - anyone who is looking for audio info on these cars should look no futher than Technic, the man knows his stuff!

And to the OP - an analogy for you: Would you buy a Ferrari 458 Italia and put $100 tires on it? The audio system in your car is quite good, the differences between the Enhanced premium and standard system are far and wide. Putting in a cheap solution is a serious waste of the wiring and speakers (and design of everything) already installed in your car. Your kids will thank you later, put a proper factory AMP back in it and call it a day.

No, it is not what you paid for your car that matters in this thread. It is what your particular OEM amp costs. And your particular OEM amp is not analog as your previous "3 BMW" were, this one is proprietary digital. So it costs more and therefore it cannot be replaced cheaply, is that simple.

A little search should have given you the idea of what you are dealing with -this is a quite common malfunction in here. But again, it seems to me that we are not dealing here with a lack of knowledge but just about cheapness, isn't it?

Good luck.

Pretty much. As well as, don't let water somehow get on your amp.

At least you can hear the engine more now! Like I said, if you offer something reasonable the AMP is yours. Plug and play of course and you'll be good again.

Water and electronics don't mix!
LOL Mike..

So after talking with Technic (the master of audio), it appears that there are three (or more) versions of the AMP.

One of them looks totally different and is like the one I have in my 08.

The second one I know of is the pics posted by the OP. It has a 20 pin connector (which has power and ground in it) and a MOST connector for the fiber optics.

The third one I know of (which is the newest one) also has 20 pins and a MOST connector, but has an additional 2 Pin Connector for Power/Ground.

All three are M individual audio enhanced premium sound amps.

Lots of changes! Good luck OP to getting the situation fixed.
