BMW Internship???

I'm a 3rd year college student at The Ohio State University and am trying to find an automotive based internship for the summer. Ideally I would like to work in the racing industry, but I'm sure that would be possible through any major automotive company (preferably BMW ). Do you guys have any ideas on where I should begin my search or any tips in getting into the automotive industry?

I would start by applying HERE.

Just kidding. A little rivalry humor for you there. Good luck to you. And seriously, Motor City is no bad place to start your quest, though not for BMW.

Thanks for all the help! I'm guessing I'd just work my way up to the racing team eventually, not really sure how to get into racing but that's not my worry at this time.

During my BMW factory Tour last week in Munich I learned that EE's get a 20% discount on new cars and can buy one every 6 months.

yep, they just relocated to a larger building at Tuttle Crossing. I think they took over the building from Nationwide Insurance.

I was a finance major at OSU. I interviewed there after college. I didn't get the job. (it was a good thing, my career took off at my current place)

If you're an engineering major, you should consider working for Honda. The BMW office in Dublin is only financials, I think even warranty stuff is done out of their NJ office.

I'm currently trying to get myself into Tesla in SF.

Unfortunately I'm not an engineering major. I was freshman year, but then became interested in law, so I switched to English. Lo and behold I'm still interested in the automotive industry. So I'm just trying to get an in and work up from there.

You should learn to Sprechen the Deutsche, but definitely look into the financial folks with your background and location... also, Rahal-Letterman racing that runs BMWs in ALMS was based in Ohio last time I checked.

RLR is based Hillard,OH. I get the sense they're such a small job shop that legal stuff is probably all outsourced...

They're big for a race team, but small for a company :-) If I were passionate about BMWs, Racing, and in Ohio, I think it'd be worth a call.
This thread made me check BMW job listings myself, but I couldn't honestly see a way to make a EE background in computer architecture line up with anything they were seeking in the US. I'm sure I could be useful in some capacity but not at the pay grade I'm used too.

Hope you find some good work that leads to your goals!

I know someone with the initials BMW. I'm sure I could get you an internship with him.
