But after a year of driving the truck, i really started to miss the E90 M3, so I got rid of the truck and picked up another E90 M3. Got bored of it again and picked up my current car; F10 M5.

And now i'm starting to get the same feeling again. The way I see it, I can only go up from here and thats a P-Car imo. I feel like i'll never be happy with whatever car I own.

You need to try something other than BMW. Go test drive a bunch of stuff & see what sticks.

I would like to Join the Carswitcheritis Anonymous.

I am 32, and have owned 33ish (lost count) vehicles.....

For me I have always been the type to have a toy and a daily driver. However I seem to change my DD more than my toy. I am not sure what it is, but whatever I seem to spend the most time in is what I am not happy with.

For toys the longest I have owned a vehicle in the last 10 years was a Honda S2000. Surprisingly I will be buying another one again as it is that great of an experience. I currently have an M2, that I am just not in love with. Not really sure why as its an EXCELLENT car it just doesnt excite me as much as the S2k did. I think it might be due to the fact that the M2 is not scary to drive, whereas the S2k made me a better driver and to work for it.

I am not sure if I will ever get over carswitcheritis.

I can see why you're after another S2000. I'm on my 3rd Miata.

I have Carswitchitis disease too. I've owned my M235i for about 2 years 3 months. It's the longest I've owned a car in probably 15 or 20 years. Last year I almost sold it and even turned down a few legit offers. Was going to get a Charger Hellcat or ATS-V. Hell I even looked at 4Runners and Lexus GX460s for a bit.

In the end I decided I had to quit this addiction and just enjoy this car.

My last car was a NISMO 370Z. I owned it for about 8 months. Spent lots of money on mods to get it track ready. Tracked it once...then traded it in.

Over the last few months I've been just doing little things to the BMW to keep my interest in it. Switched from JB4 tune to BM3. Got a small door ding fixed. Now I'm looking at another set of wheels (or powder coating my current setup) and wrapping the car.

All my buddies do this too. Friend just picked up a Audi RS5 last night after owning his Audi TTS for about a year. Before that he had a AMG GTS for about 2 years.

It's better than spending your money on drugs and hookers. That's what I tell my woman at least.

I had a 2007 S2k in silverstone. Best car I owned. Regret selling it to this day. I still look at them at least 3-4 times a year. So hard to find a clean one these days. Will be future collectors car for sure. People complain it has no torque, but that's what makes if fun. You're constantly revving it out and shifting gears.

true the cayman was never my dream car...but I loved it AT FIRST

then I got bored of it, ordered a C7, did not like the C7, so 2weeks later I ordered another Cayman...

back in the day my Z4 coupe was my dream car, wanted one since the concept in 2005, had to search for about a year for one, had to have it shipped from BC, and I did love that car...for about a year, then i was looking again...

This could be the best thread of all time. I'm closing in on 70, have had too many cars and motorcycles to count and still have dreams of my first love that '70 Plymouth Duster yellow over black 3 speed on the floor that I wish I still had. The true question is would my $750 a month be better spent on therapy than on another great car that I can't have for 2 months before I'm looking again. The '89 325i black on black icon that started me on BMW nirvana? Nope. The '88 635 CSI that lasted barely 2 years? Nope. Any of the junks that filled the gap after I lost my way until I found the light again with the 2000 325i? Of course not. Surely the '03 M5 Jet Black over Caramel would be the end. But sadly, sickly, no. I now knew what is was. I needed a second car not merely a replacement. I neede a Porsche to replace the Datsun 280 ZX. But 4 Porsches later, nope. And on and on with the 335's and 535's and 550's and M3's and M5's until I finally figured it out. One of each and never to end until they lay us in the ground...

actually I made 2k on the C7 because they were so hard to get in Canada in the spring of 2015.

The dealer wanted to give me 5k less 2 weeks later, but I advertised it and sold it privately for 2k more than I paid

I think I have a problem.

I sold my first car after 6 months, but it was an automatic toyota tercel, so that's understandable

But since then I have always begin to itch for another car soon after getting one. The timing of this does depend on how much I like the car.

So for example the 2015 C7 I had I disliked so much, that after 3 days I wanted back into my 2014 Cayman S.

But even with my 2014 Cayman S, my favourite car of all in terms of driving experience, (I used to go for joy rides with that thing, which is something I hadn't done since I was 20), I was still looking to replace it after about 6 months.

What essentially happens with any car is that it normalizes, and it becomes dull and ordinary, or even worse, sometimes things I once enjoyed become annoyances, or things i kinda never liked about the car start to really annoy me. So with the cayman for example, I started to notice the alternator whine, the rough ride started to annoy, i really felt the lack of low end torque, even the flat six started to feel less than perfectly smooth (I was coming from the n52 in a 2007 Z4 coupe 3.0si which has to be one of the smoothest engines of all time). So one year after I got the car I was already test driving othe cars, looking for my next fix.

With my recent victim, a 2018 m240i, after just 2 months and 2000km, the turbo lag (which is pretty minimal) is getting on my nerves, the clunky and buzzy nature of the shifts at power annoy me, the lack of it's asthetic appeal to me is really gnawing at me...
and so 2 months after getting it, I find myself looking to replace it.

I feel like this is going to happen with any car I get, so I almost getting to the point where I feel like there's no point. I should give up the search for the holy grail...I will tire of even a ferrari 458 at some point.

So I should just get a car that is decent (like the m240i) and live with it for a few years and then make a change (like a normal person )

But if I give up the search for my next fix, I feel this big void looming in my life. Cars are a really passion for me.

Anyhow you can see from my posts that I have struggled with this for a while. Anyone feel the same, did you find a way out?
I hope you don't do this to women too!

Now I can come OUT! I felt like an idiot over the years pissing through cars every year or less. My wife and I counted our cars since we've been together 25+ years...we laughed it's so absurd. 4 Honda's , 1 Dodge Intrepid, 1 Acura TL, 6 Jeeps, 2 Lexus, 4 3series, 8 5series, 1 X5, 1 7series. 1 Mazda...almost forgot.

So the moral of the story is that I can't to get the next car!!! I always think there is something I "need". My son thinks I'm completely nuts ...which I am but at least I started him putting away $25/mth in a S&P fund earning 6% avg., did the math...40 years later he has a million bucks in the bank. I wish I would have listened to my dad.

Which fund? The good ones I see are closed to new investors or require $10k to start

OP, I suffer like you and many here. Here's what I found has helped me, but sounds like your garage situation will not allow you to do. I currently own 5 cars, I have a lifted F150, 991.1 GT3 RS, MK7.5 Golf R, BMW X5 diesel, Mercedes C43 AMG. I also have a Targa 4S due to arrive in September, my M5 Competition arriving in October and a new Cayenne arriving in December.

When I get bored, I just jump into one of the other cars. When a car just doesn't do it for me anymore, I get a new one. I feel your pain, I suffer from the same illness. I always justify the purchase of a new car as 'it will either solve the problems I have with my current vehicles', or that 'it's practical'. The Golf R was supposed to be practical in that it's AWD and good on gas (PS, it's not good on gas, at least not after I gave it the APR stage 2 treatment). The F150 was supposed to be great for when I need to haul stuff around (PS, that's happened once and I probably could have used the X5 to do the same). The RS, well, that was my dream car, now I ache for something italian.

My opinion/advice, if you can afford it, who cares? Just buy what you like, when you like. Cars are very, very seldom an investment, life is short and well f' everybody who gives you grief for swapping your cars. Haters gonna hate and players gotta play.

A buddy of mine really suffers from this. In the last year he's gone through the following cars:
NISMO 370Z
Porsche Cayman
Audi R8 (V8 manual)
Merc GT-S (Launch Edition)
Porsche TT (had it so short a time I didn't even know he had it!)
Porsche GT3 (white)
Porsche GT3 (silver with more options)
McLaren 570S (Volcano Orange)
