The look is meant to be intimidating. I mean when you're driving up to this thing, you're going to be in awe, unless you're just completely clueless to what you're driving next to.
As far as the $70k price tag, THAT car is more than worth it. Gentlemen, we're talking about the next gen Nissan Skyline GTR. The R33-34 price tag if you wanted to bring it to the states is around 100k. No one should complain about the price for this. I just wanna see more colors, screw silver

The new car will be made for all countries so those issues will not be at hand. And no doubt a yellow or sunburnt orange (a la the 350z) will come in much later in the product cycle. |

So then the price tag for this one, 65-70k is fair. I dont know how people can not understand why is costs what it does.

and for the price of a Z-Tuned which was around 200k USD wasnt outragerous either.
For those that wanted their R34 to have the same performance, there is no way you can dump less then another 100k into the car. not to mention you gotta kiss your warranty goodbye. i know alot of R34 owners actually dump twice as much into their GTR to make it go around 800HP, and its constantly in the shop for more tuning. and the only reason u can spend so much in this car is just that there is unlimited amount of mods. u can say its cheap for the amount of power in can potentially produce, since 600+ HP is supercar territory.

The Base GTR was really in the 50-60K US range when it was on sale in Japan ... if you look at used ones in Japan you will see they are like 30Kish now. and if you got a qualified R34, Nismo could tune it into Z-Tuned Spec for 13-15 million yen R34 GTR started from late 5m, V-Spec II was close to 6.7m, then the M-Spec, NuR and N1 versions were well over 7m yen and USD were an easy conversion, its pretty much roughly removing the last 2 zeros and you get the USD price.

Arent there going to be three models of the GT-R?
If I recall the base model was 460hp the Spec-V had like 500hp and some other performance bits then the EVO model with 550hp and was over 200lbs lighter Does anyone remember reading anything about this? I'll see if I can find the article that mentioned it. *EDIT* Alright here it is, some of the pictures look like they are photochopped to show the expected design. Also there is a translation below that talks about the different models I was refering to. The standard GTR is expected to start at $57K while the V Spec and EVO Spec will start at $67K and $94K respectively. Both a 6 speed and an advanced paddle shifting automatic are to be available. The Standard GTR and Spec V will be equipped with a 480HP version of the VQHRTT engine(displacement is either 3.7 or 3.8L as it has not yet been confirmed). The GTR EVO will receive a 530HP version of the VQHRTT engine as well as being roughly 220lbs lighter then the standard GTR, coming with light weight seats, a larger more aerodynamic rear spoiler, large ceramic brake rotors, and a revised Altessa AWD geared for more track use.

Just like anything else, as soon as they become readily available they will depreciate like any other car. Look at the Z06, they were selling for 100K, not you can find them for under 60K with less than 10K miles.
I think by the time I'm done with the 335I, all the people waiting on their orders would've gotten theirs and now they will be sitting on the lot, ready to be picked up. It is a very great car, but why buy new if you're going mod everything on it? Buy a used one, when it's out of warranty. But I have to tell you, I saw the new M3 when I was in Munic for my ED and that car looks incredible in person, it might not be as fast, but for potentially 10K less money it is an absolutely amazing car. I took some pictures of it and every now and again still sit and stare at it in amazement. |
