I've placed my bid on BMW a long time ago, but on this one I'd wait until more data comes in for the RS5. Let's revisit this topic in a few months, or better yet until the first few serious side-by-side tests and comparisons.

I do considered it has failed its purpose - given Audi's expectations for this car, a draw is a pretty grim outcome.

-AWD
-Rear weight bias
-PDK/launch control
-Power to weight ratio

Now 60-130 or even 0-100 will be much less improved by AWD.
+1. gtr is a good example.

RS5 Slower than M3 on track

RS5 has been tested ont the Autozeitoung test track and posted 1:40.7, whereas on the same track the M3 posted 1:40.1.

M3 is faster on straight line as well as on track;

I see. So the problem is that all track times we have are for M3 6MT and not M3 7DCT (except the one on Autozeitung track). BMW has the lap time for the new M3 Competition 7DCT, but they have not released it and I don't know if they will. I think they are waiting for M3 GTS reveal and official track time of RS5 on the N-Ring.

Conclusion (a bit early):

M3 is faster than RS5 for the good driver, what most of us are not. So finally RS5 is faster for the average driver.

.6 of a second on different days is nothing.

I agree with the first part, but why should the RS5 be faster for the average driver? I believe they should be equally fast for the average driver.

Nevertheless, the conclusion is that us, the M3 drivers, we drive the better car for the better price, no matter how fast/slow is an RS5 in daily traffic.

They tested the RS5 on Hockenheim....1 second slower than the M3!!

check:

It seems that the M3 stays the king.

I am not going to tell him anything, as he probably would be a better driver than me...just shut up and work some more on the track skills.

But this doesn't change the fact that M3 is the better car than RS5

I think they're both amazing cars and would love to have either of them.

I read the entire thread, and noticed that many people were wrong with their predictions. M3 is faster. End of discussion.
