Anyone know of anyone with engine failure AFTER rod bearings changed?

08 E92 M3. One of the first ones. 72k miles. Oil changes every 7500. Daily driver.

I plan on keeping my car and even supercharging in a few months. AA gen2 stage 2

Been following the forums and dont want engine failure. I do plan on doing this without oil analysis first and while the supercharger is being done.

Just curious if ppl have had engine failures AFTER they had rod bearings done? I tried to search with no luck.

people who change rod bearings usually better care about their car and service them more frequently so that might be the reason why you haven't seen any

It's a fair question.
I would guess time is the key here. The refurbished units have not been on the road that long. Add in the fact that the fail rate is less than 5% (est) and you have a very small window of probability that we will see a failure from a refurb'd unit.

I also do believe that 7,500 miles is far too high. I do change my oil every 5,000 kms (3,000 Miles) because I am very concerned lol I live in a hot place.

We have here an very knowledged and thank god willing guy who help's people determine if they allready have an rod bearing issue or not!

This guy could easely make an buisseness out of it.

We all call him ( Forum name MPower-belgium) belgian ///Mwhisperer and I would suggest you, if you have any further doubt's to send him a vid of your engine running, placing the cam on the far right, close to the fenderwell, at best on the wheel. Then slowly rev it to 3k RPM's and do that 2-3 time's.
Iam not familiar with running car's in such extreme climate condition's so I can't confirm if your oil change frequency is overkill or not.
Enjoy your M...but don't treat it as if it doesn't have a soul.

AFAIK my car is still safe but just to be EXTRA safe I might record a video and show it to the Gurus here.
