Skyline Run VII - Planning Thread

Skyline Run is back for its 3rd year! Let's get the planning started. Please choose your preferred date. Also IM, E-mail, text message, or talk to your friends to have them log into this forum to cast their vote. I know a lot of people rarely check the forums in the Winter season.

Check out the route plans below and let me know which route you prefer. I'm thinking a reverse route of Skyline Run V or VI - lunch being at the traditional Melting Pot Pizza, of course. Or we could just re-run one of these, they were all great.

Route Maps:

Skyline Run I & II: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en...4,1.39801&z=10

Skyline Run III: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en...,0.699005&z=11

Skyline Run V: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en...,0.699005&z=11

Skyline Run VI: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en...1,1.39801&z=10

And finally, should this be a charity run or free?

Darkstar, a suggestion: can you place more "check points" along the way so that groups can meet up after getting separated by factors such as traffic lights and slower driving style? I know in the past it can be quite frustrating when you are lost and don't have a check point to head to aside from the lunch break location. Small check points along the way (with addressees on them so our NAV system can guide us) would alleviate lots of scary moment when driving way above 55mph around bends while looking at print out directions. Say every 15 to 20 minutes of driving for each. Thanks.

I had a co-pilot last year which helped. But also, when you're following everyone else you don't really have to look at the directions anyways. I feel like too many check points could just get annoying and take away from the driving fun.

I think it wouldn't hurt to have some rally points along the way to allow others to catch up.

Especially when crossing onto freeways/hwys when the group gets separated in the median due to oncoming traffic.

I'll do what I can. The issue is that with 20+ cars, there aren't many places where we can all fit.

Voted on a date. No preference on the route. I say free. Lost a bet to my coworker who came out to the last drive and the loser has to pay for the other persons next skyline run. Apparently Chumlee is not related to the family on Pawn Stars.

Ha, jk. Charity is always good.

The sooner the better!
More rally points to help keep the group together.
Open it up for others but if it get's too big not sure how to swtich it back to charity to weed it down.
Any of the runs would be great!

Best way to keep attendees down is to just be cautious where you post it. Keep it to a couple of forums rather than plastering it on every forum
