MACO/Training Systems Fees in CA

Folks -

Posted this on the pricing board and also posting here as it sounds like other California residents may have faced the same situation.

When I manually calculate invoice on my ordered 2009 E90, it comes to $62,110. Edmunds, KBB etc confirm this number. When I bought the car, I agreed to $900 over invoice which I thought was a fair deal.

But looking at the paperwork, I was also charged a $580 MACO/Training Systems fee in addition to the invoice and the $900. Dealer is treating the invoice as $62,690 which includes MACO.

Just occurred to me to ask you all if this makes sense. Is this something I should be paying and has the dealer represented this correctly.

I placed order in a bay area dealership. Would appreciate any advice you can give me.

Maybe I just didn't look closely, but I don't recall every seeing a charge like this. What exactly is it for?

You know, I really have no clue. Dealer just added it saying it's part of the invoice and it just occurred to me to question it.

The car isn't here yet so I still have time to figure this out.

Anyone else see or hear of these fees?
