They just had a bad experience with smg pry if they dont know how to drive it then ya it was bad I'm sure or if they were in the car with someone who didn't know how to use smg than again I'm sure but why would they use it for so long on their best cars and the csl? Only problem with smg is more things can go wrong and it's not as intimate of a driving connection but other than that smg has won me over and I'm a purest I like Manual only that's saying something

Although I will agree that the DCT transmission is a completely different animal, I can only imagine the replacement cost of one of these bad boys. The E46 SMG uses the same transmission as a standard 6MT, aside from the bell housing. My car is nearing the 9 year mark and I haven't had to replace a single transmission related item. Sure the pump might fail eventually, but if it does every 10 years is that BMW's fault for not building a pump that will outlast the car?

what i ment is i work for bmw and smg pumps go all the time and it isn't cheap and a nightmare to work on nuff said...and i know how to drive LOL
