As for customs and VDC, there is probably some sort of queue that the cars get fed into and when they get to them, they get to them...

Now the question is how long at VPC. I hear normally one week to dealer, but I've been reading threads with (gulp) 3+ weeks being stuck there.
My car is Euro delivery, so with my luck I'm going to get the FBI dude from Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay ripping it apart looking for contraband... |

Let's keep our fingers crossed that the backlog from the seat modules is cleared out!

ED cars go through customs differently than non-ED cars. That's because you own them - there are random searches of individual cars. Non-ED cars are essentially inventory and generally go through customs as a group.
Thus, there might be a difference in time to clear customs for ED and non-ED cars. Then they go through VPC. Based on what was posted here, a lot of the VPC issues were on cars produced during a specific time period in April. So it may depend on whether your cars were included in that group. I'm hoping they fixed all of these issues and this is not the case for any of us. Last edited by WCH; 06-10-2010 at 12:57 PM.. |

Well, it looks like that question is answered now. The Fedora moved from one pier in the port to another this morning. Maybe they off-loaded some cars at the first pier, but my status has not updated yet so I doubt any BMWs were off-loaded yesterday.

Mine is still "En Route" on the BMW site and the latest status on the WW site is still "Loaded..." UPDATE: Discharged at 1540 ET

I did not do ED so I had the streamlined customs procedure.
The 1800 number lists my car as at the port waiting for a ship. The WW site lists my car as loaded on the ship. The BWWUSA site lists my car as at VPC (was enroute two days ago). My experience is that the WW site is sometimes a little behind - my car was listed as received and loaded two days after the ship had sailed. Surprisingly the BMWUSA site is usually the last to be updated. On my last car, it was at VPC after the car was delivered. However, in this case, it matches what my SA told me I should expect. He thinks my car will be released to transport on Friday. Upate: WW now lists my car as "discharged" Last edited by WCH; 06-09-2010 at 04:16 PM.. |

Cool.
I am guessing that I will spend much more time in Customs due to my ED though...
