JL Audio Stealth Box??

has anyone used one of these yet??

what do you think of them??

i want a little something more as i thought the Premium Audio would be enough for me but i guess i am lookin for some more bass as the highs are ok in the car. i just want to do something simple bc last time on my E46 M3 i went overboard and put in a crazy system and spent alot of money. i am looking for minium labor and such so i figured instead of replacing the ones up front which would require more labor most likely just add these in the trunk. i have had JL audio W7's in my old M3 and they were awesome and these are supposed to be good without the added weight.

i was thinking of just mounting the amp above on the deck lid like another member did so it is out of the way

lmk what you guys think. this way i can leave the stock head unit and stock component speakers and just do a simple amp and sub install with an easy install. here is the link

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...hp?fit_id=1608

thanks in advance

I plan on putting a 12" W6 in mine, what does this setup run ($$)?

that is a great sub, i almost bought that before i got my W7's for my E46 M but the 8 inch W7's fit better in the custom box i had built

the 12" W6 will require more space then the 2 that come in the stealth box that is why i am thinking of going with that so i still have trunk space. these are the new wave of slim subs that are high power and still sound good like a w7 or w6. i have a 1200 watt panasonic sub in my truck that sounds great thats what made me think of this

i am sure you can get this cheaper from some of the outlet vendors online but this is what it costs from JL website. i just realized these can handle 1200watts which is pretty powerful

I already have a custom box for my W6 that I've used in my G35/G37, so I know it will fit, not as nice the the JL Box but not going to spend $1300.

i didn't know you had the sub already. yeah def use it if you have one already. that box won't fit just like that though how you have it in your G, you will have to change it some right?? or you just gonna stick it in there any way it fits??

yeah no way am i payin retail at 1300. i will prob get it at 40% off if not half off from some online vendor or ebay. i got all my high end stuff for my other M3 for btw 30-60% off retail. i had the 2 8" W7's in the back. Focal K2P componets all the way around (those were sick speakers). 2 Audison VRX amps and Avic Z1 head unit. i saved thousands from gettin from a speaker place. F that they try to rob you.

i just saw this and figured it was gonna have a good deep hit without having to take up so much space and i don't want to add alot of weight to the car. my other box was heavy but i built it so i could take it out in 2 min when i went to the track.

good luck with the W6, post some pics of your install when your done. do you make your own boxes or have someone do it?? i have a friend who makes them i bet if i could get the specs from JL he could prob make it for me and then i just buy the subs seperate. hmm

hey are you gonna change anything inside the car or just the sub??

thanks for the info sorry for the rant

H

I'm just throwing the box in there the way it is, however it has to fit, I spent a ton of money putting 3 W6s in my Audi and a custom trunk in my G35 for 2 W6s, not spending a dime on that stuff anymore. I will have an audio shop do the install.

More pics in my car domain link in my sig. I do like the dual T5 setup but I think I will hold off on that until I get a roadster that has no trunk.

It's an MMats 1400.1 no idea I haven't looked at it in years I'm going to be taking out my setup next week so I'll see then. AMP itself costed me $1200 in 2003 so I'm glad it's still working!

No it doesn't. 2 13TW5s need about .8cf each. The 12W6v2 needs 1.25cf. The big difference is that the 12W6v2 is almost 4 times as deep. I had a pair of the 13TW5s in my GTI before switching to a Stealthbox with a 10W6v2 and the 13TW5s are AMAZING subs. I'm debating between getting a pair of the 13TW5s and making something custom of going the SB route again.

Good luck with that. JL is one of 2 companies I can thing of that are damn near impossible to get online. They work their butts off to keep them off the net. Having said that go talk to your local dealer. Especially in times like this, they'll be much more willing to work on the price.

Then you haven't heard them all. There are MANY subs that are in the same league. It all depends on what you're looking for.

so you liked the T5 better then the W6?? i have only had 2 8 inch W7 in my old M3 to compare so i never had these other 2

JL is having a black friday sale on there website for a couple days so maybe it will be cheaper?

but woofersetc.com has jl audio stuff for cheaper. i got all my Focal stuff there for my last M3 project. the Audison amps i got lucky and snatched from an audio store goin out of biz so i got them half off

Well it wasn't exactly a fair comparison. 2 13s against a single 10 but the low end was amazing. I'd say a 13TW5 is easily as good as a 12W6v2 and almost 6 inches shallower.

JL won't honor your warranty if you buy from woofersetc. If you're not concerned about that then it's a great price. I'm going to check out the black friday sale as well but I'm not expecting the prices to be super low.

With Focal there is WAY too much counterfeit stuff floating around to risk it.

I wouldn't worry about a warranty. I've blown many subs over the years they charge you a flat rate of about $200 and ship you a refurbed one. You won't have any problems as long as you don't run them max power during a long road trip.

i always got real focal stuff, i have seen some fakes and most never have the focal credit card it comes with and look a bit different

just checked the black friday sale, nothin special seems like 15-20% off on the reg stuff then on the black friday page they have a amp package with wiring kit then a VR set and then a W3 set. nothing i need really but someone who wanted an entry level kit not bad i guess

Yeah the 300/4, 500/1, wiring kit is priced very well considering it's coming from a real dealer. I guess I'm getting old but I like the peace of mind.

i agree 100% alot of scams out there but woofers etc is the real deal i have used them in my last 2 cars and everything was perfect brand new and never failed on me. they have there own warranty as well as the speaker companies

they have good cust service too. they sent the wrong amp to me once and they paid for the return shiping and sent the correct one 2 day express before even getting back the old one. i thought that was pretty nice bc my car was almost done so i needed it right away and they understood

yeah the package they are offering is great deal its just to bad it isn't anything i need lol

it looks like the other items aren't really a sale. they just jacked the reg price up and made it look like it is a sale. i remember some of the prices before the sale started and that is what the sale price is now lol. nice try

They didn't jack the prices up. The website sells just barely below MSRP. They used MSRP as a starting point for the sale. If you're going by street prices then yeah, it's not much of a savings if you have anything resembling a decent relationship with your shop.
