I just bought an 08 e92 with 25k miles and have been shopping around for extended warranties. USAA uses assurant to underwrite their warranties and carchex offered me an assurant warranty for about 500 less. These are the two options they pitched to me:
PLAN 1 SERVICE PLAN SUMMARY View Sample Contract Product Name: 2013 U Titanium Coverage Term: 36 months / 30,000 miles Deductible: $100.00 Waiting Period: 30 days & 1000 miles Expiration Date: 3/5/2017 or Expiration Odometer: 56,000 miles PRICING SUMMARY Retail Price: $2,964.00 Sales Tax: $254.90 YOUR SERVICE PLAN PRICE $3,218.90 Monthly Payments As Low As: $178.83 and PLAN 2 SERVICE PLAN SUMMARY View Sample Contract Product Name: 2013 U Titanium Coverage Term: 60 months / 60,000 miles Deductible: $100.00 Waiting Period: 30 days & 1000 miles Expiration Date: 3/5/2019 or Expiration Odometer: 86,000 miles PRICING SUMMARY Retail Price: $4,241.00 Sales Tax: $364.73 YOUR SERVICE PLAN PRICE $4,605.73 They cover everything except for wear items. The car is in great shape with full record of services done for the entire life of the car at bmw seattle. The question is how many of you guys have spent more than 4600 on repairs alone between 25k and 85k miles on your M's? I'm trying to decide if its worth it. Figured this would be THE best place to ask |

You created another thread with this exact same comment, why add it to this one too? You already received plenty of feedback in the other post as well, so doesn't seem to make sense highjacking a thread about high mileage cars to ask a question about what warranty you should buy.

Because I plan on my 08 being a High mileage car and am contemplating betting that it will cost more than 4600 dollars in repairs. So, in short, because the owners on this thread are a perfect sample of people to replicate my situation. The phrase hindsight is 20/20 comes to mind. I was wondering how long it would take for someone to be a forum cop. My post isn't wasting anymore of cyberspace than yours is.

bought the car at 30,000 miles last july, 2013. Im currently at 42,000 miles, mostly highway miles commuting to work.
had to change a fuel pump sensor @ 33,000 miles got a new battery due to an error and also got a software update on the car @ 34,000 miles sensors cost me 500 and the battery/software update cost me 840. those are the only two issues ive had with the car since purchase. |

Exact same thing happened to me - twice. On the first occasion, I shut the car off, and the message went away for about a week. Second time I brought it in to the dealer and the right throttle actuator was replaced (under extended warranty). You should go get it checked out - as this is not too uncommon...

haha. Yeah. I put miles on my cars. I don't care. I run my cars but I take care of them too.

Currently at 107k. Currently have a blown o2 sensor but that went due to the lack of cold start from a mistake i made by choosing to remove cold start from bpm tune
