I also have 2 kids. And my wife's weekend car is our family car and my weekend car is MY weekend car z06 or 997.2 all the way. I had a 997.1 a few years ago and loved it for other reasons. Then again I enjoy driving a truck/SUV daily and I'm wiling to pay for it at the gas station. No worries on door dings, curbs, idiotic drivers, and you have so many more uses. I tried the m6 with the family, but it wasn't practical and they all enjoyed the room of the SUV over a compact, and I hated the piggy weight and lack of track perfromance(m3 at much lesser degree) no more compromise sports cars for me.... These were fun dailies

If your truck is going to be like something below shown by krnnerdboy then I'd be ok with Option B, have the 997.2 on the weekends

This is actually high on the list too. I checked into child seating laws for Cali and it is legal to put a child in the front seat as long as the air bag is turned off. So it would possible to get a c7 or c6 z06 and use it as a daily. The question is how comfortable I am putting my 2 year old in the front with a baby seat for that 2 mile drive to preschool. My wife said as long as it's legal she is cool with it. Thoughts?

I have three kids and I DD my 997.2. Why not just DD the 997? Better on gas, lower maintenance, and more sporty? I seriously can get 31 mpg on the highway if I cruise at 65. 80 = 25 mpg. In the suburbs, with the idling in drive throughs and eating in the parking lots and romping at the redlights, I still manage 18 mpg.
If you get a nice car, why save it for the weekends? I hate reading about people trying to save the miles so they drive their DD beaters. Why bother getting a nice car if you aren't gonna drive it everyday? Everyday I floor it on my way to work and on my way back. Everytime the kids get in the car, I give them an awesome ride. I guarantee that they will fondly remember the days when daddy went 1.5 G during 0-45 runs. LOL |

Thanks for the replies. The 911 is not feasible as a daily because I am running without a warranty and also it's too showy for my line work. The vette is not subtle either but doesn't carry the same image as a 911
