Am I just being cheap or dealer's problem?

I went to a BMW dealer last wk, and i was looking for 2011 used M3. Maybe im just one little cheap guy to try to negotiate the price with them or maybe he is right ( im not really sure ). Because the sales man told me "M3 buyer never negotiate the price at all, they will buy whatever price on the sticker. If you could not afford it, then buy a cheaper car, don't buy M3", then i was like, OK, i thought most of the car buyers will negotiate the price, but I guess Im the cheap guy. Good bye. So, I left.

So that I just wanna ask, will you guys negotiate the price on your M3?

Your dealer is a douche bag. Go to a different dealer.

You'd be stupid to not negotiate.

You aren't cheap. Especially for a used car. There are plenty of dealers willing to negotiate on price. Go somewhere else or deal with a different salesman. You can get a good idea of the average price for a used m3 on this site. You can use that when you negotiate.

LOL, time to move on to another dealer. NO DEALER lists a price without a built in markup, generally a substantial one.

Wow, what a douche bag! No dude, don't think for a second you're cheap. You're a smart buyer is what it is. Which dealership is this?

You looking for 6MT or DCT? Quite a few DCTs out there.

Just a bad salesman. That's one of the best things of being a salesman. I loved it when I sold cars.

If you want the car, go back to the dealer and talk to someone else.

Actually I think Ferrari may be different. Apparently Ferrari ownership can be a total cabal. I've heard stories that Ferraris are in sufficiently short supply that dealers sometimes will only sell you a Ferrari if you've previously owned a Ferrari (i.e. you buy your first one used), and they frequently get sold for way above MSRP -- like a permanent version of the "market adjustments" on the first allocations of newly launched cars. Then some owners end up trading them in with hardly any miles on them, so in some cases the dealers can sell the second time STILL above its original MSRP. This is all second-hand info since I'm not fortunate enough to be a Ferrari owner, though.

But OP, find another dealership or at least another sales rep at that dealership. You can absolutely negotiate, especially on a pre-owned.

Can you please tell me which dealer? Also you didnt do in wrong way. Whatever you buy, new or used m3, negotiate the price instead of paying whatever the sticker is.

Went to buy a new LP-560 with my buddy, plenty of Lambos sitting in the dealer and the salesman even gave an offer 20k off the msrp without even asking.

Which dealer is this? and what was the salesman's name? If I were you, (I'm being REAL honest) I'd go back to the same dealer, find another salesman who is willing to hear my negotiation... and then buy the car and after all is said and done, have a word with the original douche.

I would take it even further...go back to the same dealer and ask for the sales department manager. Explain to him you were a legit customer and that you don't approve of how the dealership is doing business. Mention you are on Yelp/forums/facebook/etc and feel the others in your situation should know about this.... They will then deal with you. Guaranteed.

lulz, what a crock of sh*t.

On the 2013 M3 I just picked up, got a bunch of SoCal dealers in a bidding war (arguably a negotiations tactics) & their quotes ranged from $1092 a month to $813 a month.

You're right on that, but I was talking about used. I've heard there's 1-2 years waiting list and some dealerships mark up $50-$70K

Go back and claim your car!! I hate a## hole salesmen. You can always try to call the dealership and start the negotiations over the phone.

We should start a bad dealer post.

Majority of the time, yes, there is a mark-up but there are dealers out there that will selling to close to their "invoice" price. It's all about timing.

My impression from recently being in the market is that 5-10% is the negotiating margin for a 2011 M3.

Probably much the same as for any sought-after car that's holding its value nicely.
