Thank you!! Yup...drew ran a 11.88 with his bolt ons before getting the blower. After drew's great runs the next best time is 12.196, and then it's mine.. But the gap between our times is a lil big so that's why I was wondering what everyone else had ran.

Nope didn't take a single thing out of the car. Used a friends set of nitto 555's that wernt really warmed up. I really wanted a 1.8 60ft but catching traction is so hard in these cars.

Thanks for the thread! It's the season and I'm looking for some rear tires, will post some #'s as soon as I get to the strip.

DSC off... foot on the brake revving up to about 2000 rpm and keeping it real light on the throttle coming out of the gates. Here's a video of a run that i did of when i take off(not the video of the 12.2 time)

Granted I'm new to the whole "launching an m3" but did you play with the tire pressure in the rear any? And I thought it cut power when foot is on the brake and gas? Also what elevation are you at? I think that's all the questions for now
I've got a track not far from me that's only 500' above sea level. Granted my m3 won't be in till sept...but I've always been a drag racer |

Hey man I could really use everybody help with my 1/4 mile launch...
I am coming from a tuned 335I that of course has loads of low end torque. I went to the drag strip today and I could not hook up for crap! I have a 6MT and I tried reving it to about 2500 and then dumping the clutch but if I do DSC off then I just spin like crazy and if I leave it on or in MDM then the traction control just cuts my power.... My tuned 335 buddies where running mid to high 13s and I barely broke 14! I was getting killed out there! I just could not stop the wheels from spining. Any help or advice for launching a 6mt would be greatly apreciated! Also, keep in mind that I am in Denver so we loose about a sec with the 5280 altitude.

It is roughly 3% power loss per 1000 feet elevation, so maybe 15% for Denver and more when you are crossing the Rockies. Centrifugal superchargers can't compensate unless the pulley is changed -- their compressing ability is fixed by the belt drive and boost will drop at altitude. Turbos are wastegate regulated to a certain psi over atmospheric so they will maintain the desired boost provided the turbo has overhead to spin faster to compress the thinner air to get the desired result and no electronic nannies intervene. Turbo is the way to go at altitude if one is available for the car you want.

Personally I couldn't tell you much about 6mt, but the very first run i ever did, i had traction off and just smashed the gas, i ended up getting sideways which was pretty scary considering if i was in the other lane i would have ended up in the wall. Then I just played around with settings and different ways to launch. Just try to get as many runs in as you possibly can, its just a matter of trial and error. My weak spot was my 60 ft so every run i did my main goal was to improve my 60 ft, i knew if i got that down that my times would get alot better. So I would say don't worry about the time you get for now, just focus on the 60 ft. Once you nail that then you should really start seeing better number.

Notice how coincidentally the E92's with the lowest traps are in states with much more humidity. I'd note conditions and elevations if it is provided. I know Moseley and his DCT car was done in higher humidity above 1000ft

Great thread! Could you allow for some comments on some of those runs maybe? I definitely like looking at how much weight reduction was done, what kinds of mods, what kinds of wheels/tires were used, etc. Thanks!
