Personal Auto Insurance cover HPDE?
Does anyone know what auto insurance co's exclude coverage for HPDE? I am with Progressive and they have an exclusion for any accidents that happen on a race track, regardless if it is a timed event or race, if it happens on a race track it is not covered. You can find out by looking at the exclusions in your auto policy. If you know of a company that does not exclude accidents on a race track please let me know. Fixing an E92 could be expensive. Thanks

I live in North Carolina, and in my state, as long as you are not participating in a "race" event, i.e. no timing devices, etc, the regular insurance on your vechile covers educational events at a dedicated track facility. Notice, "race track" is the operative word, and racing of any kind is the exclusive. Having said this, some HPDE event sponsors provide insurance as an added option. You might want to check into this when registering for any HPDE event. I hope this will help you.

I have Safeco and it is excluded. It is interesting because Safeco was recently purchased by Liberty Mutual whose language is favorable. Unfortunately they are no longer writing the Liberty Mutual auto policy.

Take a look at this thread if you are shopping for HPDE insurance policies.
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=286902 I bought 10 event weekends for $1800 from WSIB with $50,000 collision coverage. |

I have Allstate and I called my agent specifically told him exactly what the event entailed, that it was at a track etc... He said I'm covered as long as I'm not actually 'racing'.
