...Carbon Build Up on Akrapovic Tips....

Hey Guys, just wondering if any of you detailing guru's know how to get
rid of the carbon "spots" left on the Akrapovic exhaust tips. I clean my
car on the regular yet the tips still have little black spots that I cant get rid of.
I did some research and Akropovic recommends WD-40 but this didnt get rid of them.
Thanks for your help!

Cheers.

I know my buddy John (Sard) says to use P21S Polishing soap. Says it works wonders and doesn't harm his exhaust. I decided to stop using it because the one thing it does is also scrub off the titanium blue hue, and since my blue has reached all the way to the tips, I kind of like it. There's like a little blue ring when you stare straight at the tips now.

P21S Polishing Soap is great, use on my AA exhaust all the time, just plain old SS.

According to him (and he's a detail freak the likes of which I will never be), you could use it and it should work fairly well.

I was just worried because I know the Akrapovic tips cant just be wiped
with any metal polish. So I want to make sure it wont damage the tips

This is more of a question than a suggestion. If the black spots are deposits as opposed to stains, would claying the tips work? I would think that it wouldn't hurt the finish either.

I wash my car more than anyone I know lol. Its never dirty, the outside of the tips are fine,
its the inside that gets these black spots. I tried WD40 but they wouldnt come off.
I also dont rip my car around only once and a while. Lets say I was my car 1-2 times a week.
I figure the spots can come off its just with what product or method im trying to
figure out. Dont get me wrong its not a big deal you can only see them when up close I can live with it
But If I can I want to get rid of them.

I wouldn't try that. The wheel cleaner is designed for painted/clear coated wheels. Exhaust systems are not coated so it may etch and pit the surface.

I tried claying my tips today, there was some brake dust and soot deposits caked on it. Within as few seconds, everything came off, and the finish wasn't affected at all (other than regaining its shine). I made sure to use lots of clay lube and when the tips were nice and cool. Based on the results, I would think its safe to do.

Hit the track! Nothing like some extended high-rpm running to burn those tips clean!

Before this track day, my exhaust tips were black with soot:

Never Dull works the best on Akra tips ...

I tried P21S and other stuff and it wasn't very good !

Never Dull cleans the build up pretty well and won't remove the the titanium blue hue

after the Never Dull treatment

wow those look unreal! I figured never dull would scratch the tips, seeing how they are in little pieces of cloth.
