M3 sales compare to previous M3?
Are there any salesnumbers. How many M3's (E90,E92,E93) have been sold?
Better or worse than the M3 E46? Is it ture that current M3 sales arent good? |

You are making assumptions. For one BMW produced a lot more M3's this time around. Plus the E46 didn't come in a sedan.

Dunno about in the States but I think that the timing of the sudden increase in petrol prices (now above £1.20 per litre for high octane) must have had an effect on M3 sales.

e46 ~80,000 in 6+ years
the e9x was selling at >1000/month according to the only hard numbers I've seen... and this before they went on sale in the US, the largest market it also had one of the lowest lot times (days on lot before sold) of all cars... BMW plans on selling 100k in 6-7 years of the cars cycle...they should et close evn in the shakey economic times |

Maybe fuel cost related, but let's not forget people bought RS4's last year and people are buying IS-F's, C63 AMG's, and GT-R's this year. Not to mention the e46 M3 was coupe only in the first year of production not coupe, sedan, convertible; so there are a lot more M3's out there this time around.

Different time with different economy. It must be nice if is there is a scientific study taking into consideration all the relevant parameters. I think BMW Corporate office has this study and this will allow them to make some marketing adjustments.

As for the US, everyone assumes they are down because there are many sitting on lots and there are many discounts. This is not an entirely bad assumption, however, we don't really have any idea how many have been allocated/produced. |
