I made that post on 2/11. They did the lube thing on 1/11. I sold the car on 10/11 without the problem ever coming back after the lube job. Hope this helps!

In my Jaguar XK8 I had the hydraulic line burst at the latch and it covered me and my passengers with Pentosin.
It was a very fun and exciting ordeal in an in-n-out drive through. Thanks for sharing and let us know if applying grease fixes the issue.

When I had y E93 back in 09 after the first couple weeks the roof started to have problems opening and I constantly had to help it go up with my hand.

Anytime you are talking about electronics these problems are going to happen. I hope if you keep the car past your warranty period you buy an extended warranty! GL with the repair mate.

Holly Molly;( my 2010, had one plastic piece kinda bad and service people broke it while trying to evaluate or fix, and then replaced it.
Roof is possibly one of the biggest reason to buy extended warranty! |

but where exactly did you apply the lubricant? The guide post, the hole, the lock claw itself, the lock claw mechanism, et al? Thanks! |

The issue sounds like a very common e93 thing: the passenger side roof mechanism starts sticking on opening ... then it turns into a stick & pop ... then it turns into a full-on stuck. Seems hard to believe that the level of "stuck" is simply from an unlubricated guide post, but it sure seems to be. I used some silicone lubricant that came with the guide rods of a weight stack since that's all I had handy. Just used to sponge to apply to the passenger side guide post - took like 3 seconds. Haven't had the issue since. Sometimes it's the simplest things Now hopefully my ICV will fix itself ... |

I've got about 17k miles on my E93 now, and have dropped the roof at least once per day, usually twice, since the 18th of March. ...I've probably cycled it about 450 times?
The only issue began slowly, and at first wasn't noticeable. On the right rear side, a tiny black tube began to appear, near the passenger window. That was in early October. I thought it was normal. But then about a 1/2" appeared. Then an inch. And it wasn't on the drivers' side. Last week, it was two inches of extra rubber tubing. It is a sort of filler-spacer stuff that goes around the back lining that forms a gasket around the rear window frame insuring an airtight seal to the body. It's a rubber tube inside a sleeve. I took it into the dealer and they hadn't seen this previously. My concern is that it would be like a pair of running pants with a drawstring -- you know: once that stupid string starts to come out on one side, to get it back up and around is like pushing a bowling ball with a cooked spaghetti noodle. Anyhoo, one of their service folks figured it out (I didn't want to know how), and pushed it back even. And, other than the driver's side inner door handle separating off its clamp, everything has been working correctly. .
