ESS Flash Software + BPM DCT Tune

Hello members,

the time has come to tune my 2011 DCT M3.

Ive been reading alot of posts on this and it was a bit difficult to decide on which and what setup to go with.

ive heard alot of positive reviews on Mike Benvos tuning from my friends in Dubai (happy Customers) along with other M3s equipped with an ESS Flash tune.

the current mods on the car are :

1. Macht Schnell Charge 2 kit air intake
2. Macht Schnell under drive pulleys
3. Akrapovic Slip on with GT4 Catless Xpipe (suprisingly i never got a check engine light).
4. Macht Schnell Solid subframe Bushings

Car Mileage is 108,000KM ( bearings preventive care to be done very soon)

i may get questioned why im doing this mix of Tuning done on the car. I was actually wondering if anyone has attempted such a setup here as i know 2 people here that have run this setup but for more specific reasons.

ECU : ESS
DCT: BPM

the order has been put down today for them both and hopefully i will see some positive numbers when the tune goes in.

You'll get a better deal getting both through one vendor. I'd go with BPM hands down though.

The GTS tunes are all either a) the original GTS tune or b) modified GTS tune to make it a bit slower and overheat less

Both tuners seem to function and not blow up your car. I prefer ESS as they've been tuning supercharged Ms for ages and they are the only ones with Stage 3 cars that actually function vs the vaporware of the rest of the vendors

IMHO it's no contest, ESS wins hands down for price, service, and longevity.
For DCT tune Alex@Alpine is your best bet. He also offers a tune, so consider that too. Best of luck whomever you choose!

I have a question about all the tunes. I live in both Phoenix and Socal and from what I have read there is quite a bit to choose from. For the most part I have seen that the all tunes really don't differ and they offer pretty much the same and the real difference I see is a price tag. Is this a preference thing or are there really any big differences?

That has been said, even in this thread, only about the DCT software. The engine tunes are unique to the tuners. So the suggestion was you may want to pick the engine tune you want and have that tuner do your DCT, too, as that part doesn't matter as much given the similarity.

This assumes you will get a good deal together. That may not be the case, however, so you may instead just go for the lowest price on DCT after you pick the engine tune you want.

You could just install the GTS software yourself or through anyone that can code. That's what I did this weekend

What do you mean by this? Is this motor just not that much improved by tunes? I know this is a very different system but I have a diesel truck and a good tune got me 150+ HP alone. Obviously you will not see gains like that but are they just not worth the money on an M3?

in my opinion not worth it. maybe the dct tune to give it better characteristics but I drive a manual.

can't tell the difference between catless/notune and catless/tune honestly.1
