Totaled M3. How much to expect from insurance?
Hello all. So I was recently T-boned and I'm pretty sure the car is totaled
Anyway, I was wondering how much I should expect from insurance and if you guys have any recommendations on what my next car should be, I'm all ears! The car was pretty standard: 2012 e92 M3 Mineral White. 48k miles. Fully loaded on standard options (ZCP, heated seats, nav, DCT, etc.) M perf exhaust. GTS Wheels. |

Your insurance company will offer you $32,765 exactly.

There are plenty of low mile E92 M3s out there - especially in CA. Why not do it all over again!?

If I got totaled tomorrow, I would either get another e92 or get into a P-car.
I feel like the e92 m3 is sort of a lottery with some getting gems of an engine and others getting grenades...I feel I've gotten a good one and I'm not sure I wanna try again and get a grenade. That being said, there is no better car for me, for the money. |

I guarantee you get close 40k, insurance companies have to pay our registration and tax costs as well so add like 10% on top of the car's value. I've had a couple friends go through this process and the insurance companies have been very generous with their offers.

Having just drove a c63 amg I'd suggest looking at one. Very impressive car. Great interior, great engine sound, and noticably faster than the m3. Probably won't corner quite as well but good enough if you're not a track guy. Listing my car today with my eye on a nice one in ATL.

Yup, unfortunately. Love the M but want more power and don't want to S/C an engine with 85k miles. Still hoping to make it on the 19th, but may be in a MB.

I know a lot about insurance. If you want to get the most money possible, check the policy language and see if your settlement will be based on Actual Cash Value, or Market Value. (It's possible you have Agreed Value if you're insured with Chubb or another high value insurer). If it's ACV, you'll get something similar to Blue Book; insurance companies have their own software that spits out the number. If it's Market Value, they will search vehicles for sale within 500 miles. If it's Market Value, that gives you an opportunity to make a case that you should get more, especially for an M3, because the market is high right now. The more detailed you can be in describing your vehicle the better. Keep in mind that adjusters have no incentive to lowball you; the fact of the matter is that they could care less what the number is, as long as it's objectively justifiable. If you help them build a file of factual information to support a higher number, you'll end up with a higher settlement. Good luck!

2013 w/dev package. Can't tell you why you beat that one. But even the base c63 dynos around 380-400 and has 150 more torque. Power to weight is even (considering average m dyno's 350-60) but there's a massive torque difference and the MB has a much beefier area under the curve due to it's displacement. It should the clear winner all other things being equal.

The only place that an E9x M3 would spank a C63 is on a track, and probably one with short straightaways. I've driven those Mercs and the torque difference is night/day. Still prefer the M3 to the AMGs, but straight line power is the AMGs forte. |

As to your question OP on what to drive next? Wow man, it's like you are getting a new driving life. If you are not in a rush then take your time and drive every model car that is within your budget. Obviously be respectful not to waste the time of private sellers but hit all makes and models. Like I said above the ZR1's are getting rave reviews for power and handling. I am attaching the article from 6ixSpd in the event that you have not seen it. It just about sums up how we all feel about the E9X M3. My thoughts on why the E9X is the best M3. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1434096 |

In theory, a C63 should destroy an M3 every single time in a straight line...in the real world, it is much closer than AMG guys like to admit. Especially if you're modded...
That said, the C63 undeniably has more torque and more v8 grunt. I love the car! I have the same issue with it as the ISF, however. It looks dated while the e92 m3 looks timeless. If the C63 didn't look so dated to me, I would daily it and keep the e92 for weekends. Since I was a child, me and my dad would ride around naming cars as they passed and by force of habit, I still do it. I still have a hard time telling a C250 from a C63 from most angles... However, if none of that matters to you, its a monster and seems to hold its value better than the e92 M3 as well... You honestly can't lose. |

Which makes even less sense considering the faster you go the less of a factor weight becomes. Maybe the car had an issue? Doesn't really matter, the car should definitely be a consideration for anyone looking at another m3.
