Took my 77 year old mom for a ride today...
and she loved it!! It was about 71 degrees here today...perfect for the convertible to be down. She was a bit concerned, put her scarf on to protect her hair, heated her seat, and off we went. I showed her a little bit of what the car can do, and she loved it!! Then a really loud Mustang went by and she actually got all excited and was trying to get me to chase him! We ended the ride by her telling me she is so happy I bought this car as she can see how much I love it. Just thought it was so cute how much my mom loved my M3!

That is AWESOME! I'll have to take my 54 year old mother for a ride... considering my last car (Evo X) scared the crap out of her I'm thinking the M might take a few years off... Maybe I shouldn't drive too hard...
You should take video of other family members reactions and throw it up on YouTube. |

It's always great when you realize that in the right car, on the right road, driving (or riding in the car) can be such a fun and enjoyable experience.

OP: Great Story, thanks for sharing! Sounds like you two had a lot of fun and will enjoy top down rides together in the future.
I recently took my 76 year old Mom for a ride and she said it brought back memories of riding in her Dad's Jaguar XK-120. I love my M3 but it's no XK-120!

Great story - reminds me of my mom, who is a Corvette and Mustang fanatic. Her college roommate (in 1961) had a Stingray, and they used to take road trips...she's wanted a Corvette ever since. She has since owned a '69 Mach 1(!), an '86 Mustang LX 5.0, and a 96 Mustang...loved them all. She retired last month and keeps talking about getting a Corvette - and she will only consider manual transmission.
I can't wait to take her for a ride in the E93 - it has the V8 rumble she will love. And I guarantee she will make fun of the fact that it's "an automatic"...no matter how much I try to explain the idea of DCT. Thanks for sharing. Best thread in a long time. |

That's funny. My 78 year old mom was visiting recently and got her first ride in the M3. She giggled like a little girl. She said to me i have never seen you drive fast before, to which I responded Never had a car that was worth driving fast. My dad kept trying to "borrow" the keys the entire visit. Talk about a role reversal.

Nothing better than "mom approval"! My mother also does not have the stomach for fast cars, so consider yourself lucky!
