Well we probably scared the OP off the forum for good. Dude if you're still here, don't be afraid to participate in the future.

automatic transmission = MDCT (how anyone would know this unless they read tons of mundane details about this car is a mystery)

technically, it's not a traditional automatic but if you have to ask then it's functionally the exact same as any other automatic transmission only smoother and faster.

Now that you know that MDCT = automatic you can search the forum to learn everything you want to about the details. It's available through your dealership on every version (coupe, sedan and convertible) of the M3. When you configure the car on the BMW website MDCT is listed with the cars options. It's not a drivetrain (engine) choice that you make upfront as you would with most car purchases.

Hope this helps.

So far, you can only configure a coupe (e92) with a M-DCT automated manual transmission. You can order a M-DCT on an e90, e92, or e93 from you dealer now, but we've only got 2 more months of production until the factor shuts down and 2009 production starts in September.

Very tough crowd. I talked to a BMW salesman and he didn't have a clue what I was talking about when I used the term E90.

Mate,

Never mind those guys, they did the same to me at the start (some still do.....hi swampie ) but they're a good bunch once you get to know them.

May I suggest checking out the 'Ultimate guide to M-DCT' where you will find most of what you want to know about owning a Semi-auto, plus lots of technic stuff supplied by the group.

Here's the link.

Also here's the link to the 'Ultimate guide to 6MT', that is the manual gearbox to you and me.

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=145511

Hope this helps.
