blah blah blah...the M3's steering has always been a touch on the light side. Personally I am not an F1 driver and I doubt I will be able to tell the difference. Maybe the RS4 steering is a little weightier beacause it weighs nearly 4,000lbs.....

Trollin for all things M3. I'm pretty neutral (I have deposit lodged from M3 since June 2005) - I guess over here when the car costs $110000 + specced then I'm more picky than you guys in the USA. Sure if the car was $60000 over here I wouldn't give a rats ass about the steering, brakes etc... I guess at that kinda price the car adds up really well and it's easy to overlook it's initial disappointing reports. As I say lucky you... !

You read what you want to read with those reports.

Some people wouldnt be happy unless someone said "this car is better than the GT3 around a track".

I read it this way

-Most reviewers have called it the best M3 to date including Motortrend and Car and Driver.
-Top Gear usually hates BMW's but gave the new M a good review
-I like the idea of being able to soften up the M3 when I dont want to be jarred around.

- and there is new evidence that "some" reviewers didnt have the steering the in sport mode when they evaluated the steering. Shame on them

Steering can be light, but still be communicative. From what I read in the Autocar report, it isn't very communicative either and with that weight and power, you'd want to know what the wheels are doing.

I am with you there. While the M3 will be used for sporting purposes, there will be times where I will just want to cruise or kick around town.

The Honda NSX managed to be drivable in the city and great on the twisty stuff, this just smacks of BMW engineering in systems that they can charge extra money for without having to trial and error the best balance between damping and chassis response ala Lotus' Elise.
