First non-press interior/exterior walk-around for '15 C-Class

For non-US cars, this car is equipped with what is called the "AMG Sport Package."

In the US, cars with this exterior/interior trim level will continue to be called merely "Sport Package" cars.

First walk-around I've seen that was not conducted by a member of the press.

Agreed. Waiting for the full-blown AMG treatment.

Love the seats in the standard car though. The side bolstering looked to be very aggressive. I'm sure the AMG seats will once again feature a one-piece construction with even more aggressive bolstering.

The materials quality also looked to be excellent.

Seats look comfy and sporty, contrast stitching is nice. Interior overall looks amazing. I must be in the minority, I actually like the ipad look. It looks better than the BMW Nav slammed in the dash look. BMW's skinny screen looks like 1/4 of the screen is hidden in the dash.

I just drove my BMW to the merc dealership and sat in 2013 C class and then SL and I noticed the steering wheel is off center, its to the left(RHD) by about 1/2-1CM where as my 135i is perfectly centred.
And I stared at my arms to make sure it wasnt that my BMW wheel was too much to the right and the Merc wheel actually is the one off center.

I wonder if the new models still have this problem.

I have not noticed that in my C63 . . .

Keep in mind for this picture that the perspective is from my left shoulder (where I was holding my iPhone).

The steering wheel is also turned slightly left (as are the front wheels) from where I left it positioned after shutting off the car.

I dont think you would notice unless you went straight from a centered car to a non centered one, but then I wonder if it even exists in the AMG.

The way to tell is to hold the steering wheel normally and just stare at your arms and compare them.

It might also only be an issue with RHD cars.

The C63 is going to have an angry front fascia.

Carbon ceramic brakes will be available for the C63. The W205 could weigh up to 300 lbs less than the current W204 C63.

I think I'll be staring at my arms more now that you've said this.
Lets see if my C63 has the same problem. I mean I've never been at a point where it's obvious enough for me to notice. Of course I feel that in some cars you sit like / \ like in a Lamborghini.

I hope that isn't what its going to look like. To me, the outgoing c63 looks a hell of a lot better than that.

Any links to what they are doing to lose the weight? Or statements from Merc on how much weight they will drop? 300 lbs loss still puts it at around 3650-3700 lbs

Well the new C (standard) is said to lose about 220lbs from current C, ....that should leave the standard C as the lightest in class...while the AMG will obviously weigh more...it will still be lighter than the current C63 and more power to boot....win win..

true

but some of that loss is due to a smaller gas tank.

http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/ne...supermini-size

Forgive me for not being convinced until Merc offers some real numbers

it definitely will perform better, but its still far too heavy in my book. hopefully it actually will lose a lot of weight.

Something tells me they did not cut 110 pounds by using a smaller gas tank, as that would be a 16.9 gallon tank on its own (using 6.5#/gal) and the current C350 has a 17.4 gallon tank. So unless the new C has a half gallon tank (and a 13-14 mile range) that just doesn't make sense.

The small fuel tank is on the Euro C200 BlueTec diesel. It is able to be smaller due to the new car being 20% more fuel efficient. The new C has lost 220lbs. It is mostly due to extensive use of aluminium in the chassis and body panels. They body alone is 150lbs less than the previous gen.

Thanks, that's what I was getting at, I was just trying to say that fuel tank capacity isn't going to save much weight on a car, even if they used a much smaller tank. I'm still smarting from the stupidly small fuel tank in my M Coupe and it's pathetically short range.
