I am not sure, but mine is Manual so I don't update the software except if I have a problem with it. I guess this is the good thing about having 6MT.

2 options:

1) Drive to Calgary and stop at our shop.
2) We can loan you a cable and you need a laptop with windows xp/7/8 loaded and a battery maintainer.

that is for the engine programming and does not involve on trannies. it works for both DCT and Manual.

240E is a big change on performance and 100% BMW program.

Just updated to 240E, the car feels way smoother after driving it a bit, it was a little bit jerky at the beginning but most likely it was due to adapting to the way I drive the car (just an assuption). Some more features on your dash that you can play around with as well. I updated from 231E to 240E, so if you have older SW, you will even feel more improvement I guess.

They simply added my Taillight and EuroMDM coding again to my car. The whole process took around 2 hours. Again, A+ service from ECUProgram, Sim and Miguel.

Would it be worth doing this for a Apr 2012 car ? I've no idea what version I'm running or how to find out.

Nope, if your car is under warranty, just go to dealer and get updated for free.

FYI, this will not happen unless there is a problem with the car. The dealer will not reprogram the car for no reason.

They're not as strict up here with that. If you have a decent relationship with your adviser, they'll do it for you.

Your car might have 231E. 240E released on August 2012.
Please come to our shop to check what version (UIF) has your car.

Fantastic group of guys. They do everything possible to make their customers happy.

Had 240E and random coding as well as an out of province done by ECUP. I'll definitely be back!

So I recently took our vehicle in for service and some warranty work done to BMW Gallery here in Calgary and asked that they update the software to 240E and I had a tech call me back and say that he has never heard of 240E?! He says that the current version is 2.49 but that he has never heard of the "E". He then says that they will not update the software unless there is an issue and that if I wanted to update the software he would charge 2 hours of shop time. He then asked me if I wanted the software updated because of something I read on the internet? I tried to tell him about M3Post but he did not seem to have ever heard of this forum. When I answered his question with a "yes", he gave a chuckle. Any I missing something here? Has anyone ever got the software updated at the dealership that was not under a warranty issue?
