New Winter Wheel/Tire packagep- Vibration issue
I just mounted my VMR VB3's with Dunlop Wintersport 3D and they perform fine at slower speeds but anything around 75-80+ there is significant vibration. Could this be just an issue of break-in or is it indicative of a problem?
I already miss my summer tires badly |

1) check for torquing the wheel bolts to spec. (around 88 ft/lb)
2) may require hub ring (even though VMR suggests their wheels have a perfect fit) 3) those wheels are balanced using Hunter Road Force ? Quote:

I run VB3s too. I initially had Costco install my Pilot Alpin PA3 tires on them and they vibrated badly. Took the car to the local BMW dealer who rebalanced them "properly" and they run perfectly smoothly now. I would bet whoever balanced them did a crappy job.

I'm not sure of the machine they used to balance but I got them from EAS. I put them on the car myself. Strangely enough, on my commute this AM the vibration felt less. It came back a bit at about 90 mph. I'm hoping it is a break-in issue and they will continue to get better. I did a search and did see at least one comment about vibration going away after a couple hundred miles. If not, I will take to dealer.

Are winter tires more likely to transmit road irregularities than summer tires? I don't remember that on my previous winter tires but I was also running a much narrower, square set-up. |
