The new Camaro ZL1 did the ring in 7:41. That's 24 seconds quicker than our E92 M3.

I get a feeling the GT500's goal is to outdo the ZL1 so I'm pretty curious and the old saying that american cars can't turn went out the door a while ago with the Vette.

The big issue that the GT500 will have at the Ring is the bumps with the solid rear axle.On a smoother track with more steady state cornering it would be a lot closer for sure.

So you really think it won't be able to beat the 7:41 of the Camaro.

They definitely are pushing for a more track capable car with the 2 packages. The recap seats pack and the suspension and extra oil coolers

I am definitely curious to test drive them both.

It will be interesting to see for sure to see what the production cars will do.

I will be suprised if you get the chance to drive either one before you buy one.I checked with my GM dealer and he tells me that the allotment in Canada for the ZL1 is 1 car per dealer and I am pretty sure that the 2013 Gt500 will not be any better to get for the 1st while.

I've read that the ZL1 is about 3900 pounds but on one review they said 4200. The gt500 I've seen at 3850.

Wonder what the final weight is of the ZL1.

That will suck of we can't test drive them. Will have to wait for some more reviews.

I don't know but it seems the next gen M3 should have closer to 500 Hp but I doubt it.

I am pretty sure that I have never test driven anything that I have owned over the years I have always found that C&D's tests are the closest to the driving conditions that we see in Ontario as they are based in Michigan.I have only been burned once,by a MK 1 GTI that was geared so short that did 5000 revs at 85 mph which made highway driving a pain.Everything else has been more or less as expected including my M cars!
