Question Would you rather have an '04 Audi S4, or an '02 BMW M3?

I know this is a BMW forum. but I thought I'd ask anyway.

You can get a 2004 Audi S4 for the same price as a 2002 BMW M3.

I've always been a fan of the Audi's styling and interior and was curious as to what you'd guys go with.

The Audi S4 is offering a 4.2l V8 (340bhp/302lbs torque) as well as all wheel drive and 4 doors (I've grown fond of this)

The BMW M3 offers a 3.2l V6 (333bhp/262lbs toque) Rear Wheel Drive sporty coupe.

Granted there's about a 350 pound difference between the two (bigger engine, 4 doors, all wheel drive, etc.)

What would you guys go with?

Out of those two... I'd take the S4. I wouldn't want an SMG M3.

Also don't like the grey interior.

the M3 is a very fun car to drive. it really depends whether you are really gonna need the extra 2 doors. cause if you can live with a coupe than i would choose the M3. the Audi is nice though, just not as nice...

I love the E46 M3 too much... I would take that over the S4 any day.

sorry about that, I'd be going with a 6 speed in BOTH vehicles. The S4 pictures are of a vehicle I was looking at but the M3 was just kind of a "google image search" thing.

Both Vehicles would be black/black or grey/black in 6 speed form.

almost not apples to apples........both cars are great, just a matter of preference. You can't beat the 4-doors on the S4 ;-)

You couldn't pay me to buy a used bmw from 2002. Ever. Unless BMW is giving you some sort of CPO warranty, I wouldn't even consider it.

If the M3 has the V-6 then go for it because that would be a collectors item

I would take the S4.

That m3's DSG was a nightmare from what i remember. Also, the m3 has the small wheels, is two years older, and you'll need to buy snow shoes.

I'd have to have information regarding mileage and pricing to tell you, for sure, which i would take.

m3 in a heartbeat. The only s4 I like is the rs4. the s4 is just too plain IMO.

I love both cars. Audi has the best interiors.

I would have to choose the M3. The performance gives it a big edge over the S4.

The M3 is a much better looking car and a fine driver. If the doors aren't a big deal, I'd recommend the M3.

Does that help^? E46 ///M comparison test against the B6 S4.

Both perform very well and is just a taste of what you might expect with either car.

I can't really give you a verdict on either because I'm not fond of the SMG from BMW on that particular series and the B6 is not really a tempting matter for me either. Both are excellent machines though.

EDIT: not to be flamed, but I am surprised that the S4 did the track 1 second faster than the M3.
