E46 M3 GTR Street Car - Build Project Thread

Just to clarify, the flat plane crank P60 engine was based on the M60 family block. Completely different than the S65. Those engines have much taller deck heights.

Isn't the E9X fiber optics? How are you going to interface all the body modules and wiring with the E46 chassis and still retain a factory authentic feel/function here? Definitely props to you for trying it out and I wish you success but this seems like it's going to be extremely difficult and expensive to say the least.

It is hard to believe that the later pics are the same car as the earlier ones ! It was in such great shape...crazy to see how that changed.

Have you thought of an S62 motor instead of S65? Either would be epic. I can hook u up with my sources for S65 / S85 when you are ready.

That's quite an extensive project!! Should be a nice car with either engine you go with.

In regards to the color I would stick with the Silver. It's typical for BMW to do limited production cars in few colors(or just 1) and with as little information as there is out there on the M3 GTR silver seems like the 1 color it came in. Why aren't there more pictures of this car in other colors??

The next level of colors would be the actual racecar...

I need the whole E9X car not just the motor. Already working on it. Out of all the stuff I have to do that so far is becoming the hardest thing at the moment.

I posted on some of the other forums this build is on that people are welcome to come out to help. Those in the bay area can come up for the day to work on the car and have a bbq.

That is why I said this is a comunity(ish) build. I will make some DIY's from somethings as well as share the knowledge learned from this build the same way I did on my CSL build.

That is the point of the forums, community driven for all enthusiasts. Well that is what I believe so

OH SNAP... Well I will have the event up at the first of the year. Everyone the went last time voted to do the south west so the next Epic Road Trip will be there. Still have to plan and work out all the details. Just wave as you leave the 1M for dead in the straights LOL.

But what you should do is... put my n54 in a e46

I won't need as much as you listed based on what I worked up. I believe you need more as you are dropping that into a tiny car.
