MY2012: Correlation between production number and production date?

Ryan's assistant was able to give me the ship's name today (super quick response after I asked!) It looks like its somewhere in the Celtic Sea! Thanks Ryan, Golffrr, and the whole Steve Thomas Crew! Arrival at Port Hueneme is Oct 11 as far as I can tell (some other folks here are on the same ship).

Anyone else on the Florida Highway? The ship is about to land in Baltimore tonight and then hit South Carolina (performance delivery) by Thursday. I can't wait, I'm actually thinking about just going down there early to just pick it up.

Supposedly though since it is a 2012 my CA informed me that they hold them a little longer at the port when the model year shifts to go through sets of approvals before being released to shipping to the Performance Center.




EDIT: I think my car may be the first 2012 M3 to hit the states (It will be unloaded this Thursday, 9/22/11)

I'm actually a bit surprised a MY2012 M3 leaves Germany before 10/15th, due the talk I read about emissions certifications, etc. I pick mine up 10/17 in Munich, you'll definitely get yours before I do. I know member Technic is getting his before that.

Yea the ship picked mine up on the 12th of September from Germany. I think Technic will technically have his before me, but I think I may be the first one to have a MY2012 M3 on US soil.

I just checked the port of Charleston and they have my ship scheduled to dock tomorrow (9/22) to unload my car. Hopefully it gets cleared and released to the shipping company pretty quickly.

I guess my ship invested in a custom ESS supercharger in order to beat yours , but it probably just stopped in less locations than yours.

It was previously listed as waiting at the port. Now, the 800 number has it awaiting transport to the port. What?!?!

Time to call the CA ...

Maybe my car started production early? We're in PW38 right now, and I just looked today and my car appears to have started production.

Also, I thought all M3's had manual seats now? Website lists my car as having Power front seats with driver seat memory. Did they add this feature into the '12 Premium Package?

I just got to know from my CA that my car has finished production and that it is waiting to be picked up to ship. However, the OC still shows "Production Begins". I am going to be optimistic and assume that OC hasn't been updated.

CA has the most up to date info. Website and 800 number are often wrong. See my above post about my car moving backwards from the port to awaiting transport as far as the 800 number is concerned.

Also, some people have reported that the website will sometimes get stuck at a stage and never update. For example, people have already received their cars, yet the website will still say that it's in transport.

If your car's status moves to sold, then the factory makes it before the ones not already earmarked for a customer. So it is very possible for the PW to move up.

Manual seats are standard. I thought power seats were always part of the Premium package.

I talked to a human at the 800 number who said that it was at the port waiting for a ship. There is a ship leaving today and one leaving tomorrow, so I hope it gets on one of those. Trying not to bug my CA too much

Not sure I understand. BMW NA hasn't even received my official signed ED PO yet (maybe Friday), so I don't know how any status would change. Maybe I will call and try and get my VIN.

Each order has a priority attached to it. Priority 1 is sold to customer, and those cars move to the head of the line in production, VDC, etc. Probably the same for ED cars, since those are already sold to customers too. All it takes to change the priority of an order is for your CA to switch it in the computer.
