M or Tii?
With the next generation of M cars we will have a second choice, Tii cars. BMW has confirmed that a Tii 1 annd 3 will grace the line up. The question is what would you prefer, the M's will move up market, becoming high style, high luxury, top of the tree tech performance vehicles while the Tii's will be more affordable, track oriented cars with an intimate drivers experience in mind. Again which do you perfer, each group may offer somthing different but in many ways they are the same.
Think I'll take both! |

Will the Tiis be along side all of the other ranges of models too? Such as 328, 335, 335 Tii, and M3 or what?

Tii will likely become something like the GT3 to the 911 range... the GT3 is not as powerful as the turbo but costs almost as much because of its track oriented nature. i have a feeling that the tii would not be as cheap as everyone think it will be. i'd still go for the M.... besides how many people here actually live to go to the track every other weekend or so? at least with the M, you can still bring it to the track whenever you want yet have a comfortable crusier/daily driver.

M. If I want a track dedicated car, I probably won't buy a new one. With an M you can be comfortable in daily driving, but still have something that performs at the track. Not to mention I doubt BMW starts putting LSDs in regular 3/1 series.

I feel the Tii will bring additions that are currently offered from the BMW performance line, but all installed for you in the car you choose. Prime example the 135tii

How you know the tii will be the Tii's "will be more affordable, track oriented cars with an intimate drivers experience in mind." And I really want to know how the looks like...if just same like 355 than I think M still is better...Looking cool is important...!!!

I think it will be more like just a common sports package, suspension , tires, wheels, with some body kits. I doubt it will be comparable to a GT3.

I would like a lightweight tii version of the 1 series with a CF roof instead of a moonroof. Still haven't got used to the 1 proportions yet though.

M, hands down. I am semi-knowledgeable on the Tii, and the whole track focus is not up my alley. Also, I think that it looks ricey and that it is more apperance than performance oriented in some regards. I am most interested in seeing how a 3 series Tii will fit between the 335i and the M3.

I do not think BMW will create a tii 3-series that bests the M in performance. There will be nothing left for the M marketing maching to sell it wares.

It will be 335i --> M3
and 335tii --> M3 CSL They will make them separate models lines. One will be luxo and the other sport oriented. Price will be 335i<335tii<M3<M3 CSL or at least one can dream...

I think I'd still pick an M3. Here's what I just read in May's issue of CAR magazine about the E90 335tii...
"The E90 335tii will get M3 brakes, 19in wheels and sports chassis plus a reworked version of the 335i's blown six, good for 355bhp." And about the next-gen F30 (3 series) tii... "The all new F30 tii will use a new twin turbo four-cylinder petrol engine. All the better for revving hard. Sound familiar? Reminds us of the E30's 2.3 litre recipe. But the new 3-series will bolt on twin turbos and direct injection, to crank out 300 bhp for the road - or 400 bhp for track use." |
