I thought my car felt funny and I always thought it was something to do with the manual transmission. At least now I know I've been a beta tester for BMW for all these years. I'll write up my findings so when they build the next M3 they'll know what to do.

I apologize for my minor inaccuracies. It seems as though i offended you. I was even incorrect about nascar being a 6spd. The goal was just to have fun and make somebody laugh. my comment still stands, but for you I will change.
clutch pedal = NASCR
Paddle Shifter = Formula 1

I choose MT over dct because I would rather have fun than be a fraction of a second faster. Also for the amount of abuse, I find the MT will have less issues in the long run. I guarantee you at one point the clucth will wear out on both transmission. Take a guess on which one I would rather spend my lunch money on. I do plan on keeping this car well pass 100k mark.

imo if your after the fastest lap times, dont care for maintenance issues, the by all means get a dct. I for one dont even look at lap times. Would rather spend my money having fun than fixing the car.

while it sounds funny, this is actually a good statement.
YES, the S65 is a lot like V tec engine, especially in the "flexible" powerband of the engine. when you are out of gear, the rpm of the engine will drop very fast.
Like all ferrari NA engines, like Porsche NA engines, V Tec engines and our M NA engines, the downfall of rpm is very fast with gear in/out.
This is especially true for NA engines, which are so "responsive" in this aspect than any turbo engines.
I know revs drop fast in these cars. But the M3 has a very linear powerband so not sure how one really drops out of it since there's no real cut off point. The problem with dropping into a low gear with VTEC (or vvtl-i) for that matter is literally having a drastic loss of power until those high cams kick in which is not really the same issue in the M3. That's the only point I was trying to make.
