DCT maintenance questions
I'm thinking of getting an oil and filter change for my dct. i have a few questions
i'm looking at the parts from here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=28_0005 1-is the oil pan reused or new one is used? isn't there usually a gasket for the oil pan? 2-there is a part called the sucking jet pump (#4), is that reused or a new one is needed 3-what about the 2 oil drain plugs (#2 and #9) are they reused? thx Last edited by crunchy_frog; 10-09-2016 at 11:03 AM.. |

Why are you changing the oil pan? Unless it's damaged, you don't need to remove or replace it. Same goes for the pump.

From what I've seen with the metal filters from Gintani (I think....could have been a different vendor), you don't have to drop the pan to replace the filter.
I'd replace the drain bolts and washers, why not? It's like a couple dollars a piece. I don't think I'd replace the pump.

The shop that changed my filter at 50k did not drop the pan.

Ah yes, thank you for clarifying -- they changed the cylindrical one on the side.

According to BMW, yes. Most people change it at 50k but almost every analysis I've seen shows the fluid is good past 50k. Blackstone said mine probably could've done 75k.

Its also important to note that the pan gasket is not available separately. Its only available with a new pan.
If you change the cartridge filter you then have to replace the pan. It doesn't make any sense to me why these DCT service kits don't include the pan. |
