I test drove a couple of Mustang GT, but not the Boss unfortunately. I didn't like them that much. The dampers and suspension were too soft, and the steering was too numb with little feedback. Not to mention the car itself on the inside felt huge, with lots of blind spots. Yes, the engine made amazing power and had a beautiful exhaust note. But other than its amazing engine, the rest of the car hardly stands out as anything special. It didn't really feel like a driver's car to me, even though I'm sure it can post fast laptimes. |

A bit off-topic, but I recently drove a 2013 Mustang GT (with Recaros & track package) and a Scion FRS.
The GT has a wonderful, rev-happy engine, but the transmission, suspension, steering, and interior are garbage. The car just felt jittery and numb at the same time. OTOH, the FRS has less than half the HP, but felt adequate. The steering & suspension were great, and it feels much faster than its numbers. Interior-wise, the seats and steering wheel are nice, but the rest are low-rent (but still nicer than the GT). Try out a FRS/BRZ. You might be hooked. |

Let me add that I drove the GT and did not like it. Steering, handling, gearbox and suspension I was not a fan of. Car felt lose and soft. I then drove the Boss302 and fell in love. Cars feel very different, maybe like 335 to M3

I'd vote on the used Z06 or used GT500 as others have said, granted I am a little biased. You can get a GT500 2011 or 2012 under 45K, definately not a new one. But hell, even I will admit, if I could do away with the back seats I'd jump into a Z06. Both of those are under the assumption you're ok with the downgraded interior and want more street power.

My friends stock 5.0 destroyed a dct m3 from 0 till about 130(km/h) where they shut it down.
Its clear that the boss has the power advantage, lets face it for a v8, the m3 has horrible torque. Now for tracking the car, the boss has shown to be faster around the track. Were all on bmw forums so we can all agree we like luxury and thats where te m3 wins, so OP you need to decide if you want a sports car or a fast luxury car. Now if you dont need the back seats c6 z06 no doubt. I would personally go with the boss and when you get old and retire than buy yourself a nice luxurious 7 series, for now have fun. |

Had the boss, if budget and fast is on your mind I'd do it in a heartbeat, not only bc the car is amazing but bc it was also on hagertys 10 most likely to be collectible. For you, that means you get to test run it for a couple years and sell it back with a minimal loss. Unlike German cars that depreciate and are expensive to repair, which most of us are already embracing. You really can't go wrong with the boss302. And I understand where your coming from, I've got 2 kids and soon to start on the third. Budget seems to get tighter and tighter.

Is ford quality better now than the 80s? In high school and college I had a mustang gt and I loved it until it started to break down. I must have repaired almost every part on that car at least twice. Only part that broke down once was the rear end and I had one month of warranty left. Talk about getting lucky.
I wouldn't buy an american car. It's either japanese or german for me regardless that they have more bang for the buck performance. But buy what you want. If audi brought the rs3 I would love that as a 3rd car for me. |

I found it funny to see the 370z mentioned in this thread. I've been mulling over going for a new 370z (warranty) or a used M3 (more than likely no warranty).
The American cars just don't do it for me now, but I feel like everyone should enjoy one at some point in their life. Lots of hooning to be had in those cars... |

I can't believe the craftsmanship at Ford could compare to BMW. The Ford may go fast in a straight line for a few seconds but the buck stops at BMW when it comes to engineering.

I'd rather make an M3 a track car than a Mustang. Solid rear axle is for drag racing only. Only an insane person would argue in favor of a solid axle. Ford is currently in 4th in GS and 5th is ST. BMW is 2 and 1. As for my personal track experience? I have yet to be passed by a Boss.
